Aloha!

What can I say? Like yall, I'm a huge Floyd fan. Saw them in the 1980s and Roger as well. Floyd is second to none, but Led Zeppelin is definitely up there in my book. My iTunes list has thousands of tracks of live Floyd (mostly stuff from 1972-1980) which I listen to every day while working on our animated feature film "strange frame".

In 2008, Roger Waters gave his permission for us to re-record "The Gunner's Dream" for our movie "strange frame". Best news of that year! We're still working on the film. With a little luck it'll hit theaters this fall.

The closest thing to Floyd in the nature world I've experienced is scuba diving here in the winter. The whales' songs permeate the whole ocean and you can feel it through your whole body. A righteous trip indeed.

Hope to make some new friends here, turn yall onto the movie we're making, and maybe find about some live shows that I don't have that I should.

Hold on to the dream.

Smile Re: Aloha!

Hello there and welcome to APFFN!

There are many here, including myself, who also enjoy Led Zeppelin very much. The difference for me, personally, is the sheer amount of songs and albums that I absolutely love. Although I enjoy LedZep a lot, they seem to have their high and lows, as most bands do, whereas for the Floyd, there are much fewer lows (IMHO, of course).

Which 1980's Floyd concert did you see? I haven't had the privilege to see them live, although I did go watch Gilmour's Meltdown Concert at the Royal Festival Hall and Roger Waters during his "In The Flesh" tour.

That's very exciting that you got Waters' permission to re-record "The Gunner's Dream" for the "strange frame" film. What is it about? If you can post any teasers and/or more information on it, please do so, I'm sure many of us would enjoy.

Once again, welcome to APFFN!

Re: Aloha!

Mahalo for the warm welcome.

I saw the LA Forum shows and Roger Waters at the Inglewood Forum (which was awesome!)

The movie is an animated feature. It is done in a style of my own invention using a technique also of my own invention. This isn't AVATAR. This is our funky like movie about lesbian rock stars in a funky future. I have a small crew of 8 animators working on it since 2007. We should finish this year and because sound is so important we begged our way into LucasFilm's Skywalker Sound for the final mix (late this Fall).

The movie is set in the Jovian System on the moon of Ganymede:

In 2811 ASD, the Kettleport Riot engulfs the south part of the GC. Naia rescues Parker.

Parker and Naia gig together. Finally, rise to the level of having a regular sesh at a speakeasy called "The Skank".

They have struggled together, and learned to rely on each other. Naia’s humble upbringing gives her a thirst for stardom, while Parker’s regimented childhood as a LaloSar has made her definition of success a bit more elusive. As our show begins, they are coming to the end of a seemingly normal performance.

An unscrupulous entertainment agent in the audience recognizes that Naia has the perfect combination of talent and naivety for his brand of corporate sponsored stardom. This is Naia's and Parker's last gig they will play together; success is about to tear them apart.

A gallery of stills from the movie can be seen here:

Re: Aloha!

Whoa, that sounds absolutely wild. Those stills look pretty crazy, too! Rock and roll, sci-fi and lesbianism... what can I say, other than I'm looking forward to it!

Re: Aloha!

Gets my vote, too... Oh, and welcome to the Forum, strangeframe - from another newbie to this board while being a long (long...) time fan of Pink Floyd.

I'm looking forward to seeing the finished film, do keep us posted.
