Maybe if it said: "When my ego lets go of my end of the bone, To focus instead on the BAND that is precious to me, Then I...I shall be free" it would be heaps better...and far more appropriate IMHO.

I think it is good of him to be able to speak candidly about himself--including shortcomings--in his lyrics. This is a big step. And with the meeting with Mr. Mason, I even believe he's making an effort to walk the talk. It's very pleasant and refreshing to see.

I think he does. He just had to learn not to be afraid of it, to understand that it doesn't make him "weak" to show it.

but if it wasnt for that god aweful ego of his, we could of had so many more awesome pink floyd albums. like 'the pros and cons of hitchiking' by pink floyd! with rick and dave involved! and 'the wall' with wrights incredible synth playing, like the live version! and sooooo much more. pity hes such an arrogant cock.

Well, to be fair to Mr. Waters, I think he's coming to terms with himself, somewhat. He really doesn't seem so bad. He even did me a kindness: I wrote to him August of last year and sent him some essays in answer to the questions on his website. In return, he sent me an autographed photo signed to me "With love" (that is an honest-to-God quote!). The thing that made this an even greater kindness was WHEN he sent it. The postmark was 14 September 2001. It arrived on 2 October. I must say...that was kind of him to take time to do that when he would have had just about every possible excuse not to deal with such small matters. I thought that was very kind of him to sign that for me at a time when the world was grieving. I'd say receiving that photo was one of the first events that kind of cheered me up a little after the tragedy. So I have to say he seems to have certainly grown and changed, and that's a good thing.

Is there now, FloydWright, the possibility you may resume your old monicker?

in response to rhiggatwat: We all know the never-ending IFs. Anything might have happened IF someone had or had not done something somewhere sometime..... With all due respect your first post in this topic was not of the kind that I created the topic for. Disappointing. ![]() But it doesn't live long in memory after the wonderful experience FloydWright shared with us. Thanks.

You're right about the neverending IF's. Didn't Mr. Waters do a song called "If"? It seems awfully prophetic, in some ways. And you're very welcome, "kid". I really think he deserves credit for what he did...it really touched me. BTW, you had no way to know, but I'm female! (Don't worry, though...I'm not offended, as I do realise how deceptive my name can be.) |

I'm tired of people bashing Roger for leaving PF. If you worked with 3 people you weren't particularly fond of, doing something you had been doing for the past 15-20 years and tired of it, and you had immense wealth, wouldn't you strike out on your own. I mean wasn't him tired of it all, exactly what The Wall was about. And don't give me that he owes it to the fans shit. Would I love it if he rejoined Floyd, yes. Am I expecting it, no. Am I angry at him for it, no.

Quite frankly, I'm not sure I'd want Mr. Waters back in the Floyd. There's too much artistic freedom to be lost on both sides, I think. Even if we disagree with the direction one Floyd or the other has taken...I think they've developed too much separately; they're too different now and it would be intolerable to try to combine them. I think it's best to let Pink Floyd be Pink Floyd and Roger Waters be Roger Waters.
