No, I'm not crazy (well not that much anyway ), it's just that last night I had this strange dream in which I enter a musical instruments shop and I hear an acoustic version of Echoes!

At first I believed there was someone playing it on guitar inside the shop, but then I realized the song was coming from the stereo.

I know that Echoes is very unlikely to be performed in the acoustic fashion, but in that dream it sounded just beautiful!
It was like only acoustic guitar, probably one rythm and one lead, and of course 2 voices, but they didn't sound like Dave and Rick, it was something like McCartney-Lennon, or maybe Bono-The Edge, dunno.

Just thought maybe some of you would like to know, anyway tell me what you think, how would you see it performed acoustically, how would you rearrange the various parts and so on.

Cheers

well isnt gilmour going to put out a live recording of his shows? they featured acoustic versions of pink floyd songs (as well as gilmour solo "pink floyd" songs). i actualy cant wait for that, if he does do it.

and the thought of pink floyd sounding like bono - the edge just made me sick. blah.

And did he perform Echoes during his semi-acoustic set?
Oh, and about the Bono-Edge thing, it was just the sound of the vocals I heard in the dream, I'm not even sure it was similar to theirs, as I'm not sure it was similar to Lennon-McCartney either, I just remember it didn't sound that much like Rick-Dave.

And, by the way, Bono-Edge vocals aren't that bad, IMHO.

no echoes. he does songs he had input in like 'fat old sun', 'comfortably numb', 'shine on' and 'wish you were here'. he does cover some solo syd barrett stuff which in my opinion is very cool, such as 'terrapin'. i dunno. id like very much to hear it.

I had a dream once where "Celestial Voices" was done on this great cathedral organ--no other instruments. It didn't even need a singer, because the playing of the organ somehow did that and more...

floydwright, as much as i tire of your endless licking of rick wrights asshole, i must admit that his organ playing is my favorite ever in pop music (this does not count classics like bach). one thing i dont like about the doors is that i get sick of that organ sound. but rick always makes it sound good.

Once I dreamed that "Dogs" was being played in a fancy restaurant. I remember wondering how long it would take before one of the snooty guests ordered it to be turned off. I woke up before then, however.

Just listening to one of my fave radio programmes which is some sort of humorous trivia where you have to fill in the blanks in a plot given by the djs in order to complete a story, which always ends up being quite absurd.
Well, this week's story featured such questions as "a famous keyboardist" and also the drummer of the keyboardist's band was to guess.
Well, the keyboardist turned out to be Rick Wright (hence you get who was the drummer)!

Anyway, I agree with you rhiggatwat, although FloydWright is often a little bit too flattering towards Rick, the man's talent simply cannot be denied.

FloydWright's reply also makes me think of some evolution for this topic: I'd like to know how many of you happen to dream about your favorite songs/bands/artists/music, and everything that has anything to do with that.

actually that Echoes acoustic thing gives me an idea. My band was supposed to go into the studio tomorrow to record an all acoustic album. I think Echoes, which we cover at shows, would be awesome to do acoustically. I'd glady post the mp3 when we finish

Once, while on acid, I hallucinated SOYCD. If that makes sense to any of you.

Of course it makes sense; but what did you "see" on that trip? Were you just, like, going out of your head through colour spyrals and so on or did you actually dream about something?

I wouldn't say I "dreamed" of anything, rather just a collage of different images. I was on a path, and I passed certain aspects and elements of my life as I traveled that path. All the while different chords were playing in the background, not until I was sober, did I realize that it was SOYCD.

God, I miss acid.
