Hello.

Is there anybody out there?....

Ok then. Hello all Pink Floyd fans.

As you guessed, I'm a basic Pink Floyd fan. I only call myself basic because I've found interest in one Pink Floyd album. Namely, 'The Wall'. While I do like other music (The Beatles, Michael Jackson, to name a few), this album strikes me as a quite powerful one. I was already familiar with the song ABITW Part 2 (It was used in a performance I was in once in. Not a big performance, mind you), but didn't really get it's meaning. Then, I read an analysis, then it all made sense. Current favourite track on there is 'The Trial' due to the epicness of it.

But I already yammerd on about that, I'll talk about other stuff now. I have an interest in going to cinemas to see films (Particually 3D films. As long as they're not gimmick (LET'S POKE STUFF OUT AT YOU!) laden.), I like playing video games and listening to music. I also enjoy a bit of exploration.

Anyways, I've introduced myself. So, what shall we do now?

Re: Hello.

Welcome Basic Floyd Fan.

If you are interested in expanding your Floydian experience, I would highly recommend the albums "Wish You Were Here" and "Dark Side of the Moon" for starters. IMHO, definitely their best. After that, all of the rest of the albums are good...some better than others (Meddle, Animals are especially nice).

Have fun poking around the site - there is a wealth of information. If you need any help, please give one of the moderators a holler.

Re: Hello.

Welcome to the forum.

I was introduced to floyd with the DSOTM/Wizard of Oz experience, then I got WYWH for my birthday. Since then I bought most of the records in fairly random order, and dug them all, especially "Animals" and "Piper at the Gates of Dawn".

I think another good way to go about exploring Floyd would be chronologically, so you can understand the progression of their developing sounds and line-up changes.

Keep it cool.

Re: Hello.

Hello there and welcome to APFFN!

I agree with Joe, and I guess that's how I did it, at least with most Floyd albums, that is, chronologically, after getting my basics (TW, WYWH, DSOTM).

What I am sure of is that there's plenty more for you to discover and explore than "The Wall", which was also one of the first albums I got. I hope APFFN helps you through this journey...
