That is flat out false. Mobile Fidelity is still making audiophile vinyl pressings, Ultra-Gain II CDs on gold discs, and SACDs. They had cut back operations in the mid 90's due to the growth of CD markets. But now, especially these days in the second decade of the 21st Century people are finding that CD isn't quite what it first seemed to be. The warmth, depth, and transparency of the music is not nearly what is heard from a quality vinyl pressing.

And so, as evidenced by the HUGE resurgence of audiophile and regular vinyl being produced, even many new companies cropping up offering analog audio pressings, with every new recording being released, vinyl is becoming THE media format to listen to once again.
And it's about time. I am ecstatic.

But watch out for digital recordings on vinyl of the newer recordings. Those totally defeat the entire purpose of vinyl. If I wanted to buy digial recordings I'd buy a CD!!

Vinyl is fine but high-def digital has surpassed it. 24-bit lossless PCM blows CD and vinyl out of the water, analogue or digital-sourced. I couldn't have been happier to hear that Dark Side & WYWH will receive this treatment by the year's end.

As they say:
"Ignorance is bliss".
The new Pink Floyd releases coming up are going to be nothing more than the garbage low-resolution 16-bit 44.1kHz discs they already have "remastered and improved" the last two times they have done it. It's all about money for the record companies, they don't give a damn about audiophile quality audio or they would at least release everything on SACD if not analog vinyl.
Glad I still have my half-speed mastered and Japanese vinyl. Sure wish Mobile Fidelity would release PF's 70s LPs on vinyl.
You can't GET anything better than the original source. It is the PUREST form of audio.

Incorrect. The Dark Side & WYWH Immersion box sets are coming with Blu-ray Discs, containing high-resolution 24-bit PCM audio. A separate reissue of WYWH on SACD is also coming. The band has thrown its support behind these formats, which offer clear advantages over CD — although CD as a format is on the decline, it is still far from "garbage". I would certainly reserve judgement on the new digital remasters until we actually get to hear them. Vinyl reissues are coming too... though details on that are sketchy at present.

Correct — but the original source for those classic Pink Floyd albums is the analogue master tape, not some old vinyl pressing a few generations away from it. For consumer playback, high-res digital files are able to capture the source better than anything else.
