wait I retract my statement if the guy had shot Yoko then all John would have done was write songs about her and his loss of her which while they might have been good, well wait look who they would have been about, we are better off this way
Barrett Fan: Yeah, yer right. I never thought of that. By then John had gone totally commie, and was writing crap too. Best case scenario: Chapman shoots them both.

While talking about the "fab four", best albums were: Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt. Pepper & White Album (Me & Charlie Manson both like that one). You can keep the rest.

C'mon Barrett Fan, you know it wasn't really WOMEN'S FAULT! I mean that's quite of a misogynist and ignorant statement, it's basically just bad talk all upset fans back then started, people always need to blame someone, and minorities (not that women are numerically a minority, but were in the 60's and still are, sadly, a cultural and social minority) make for easy scapegoats.

It' wasn't really anyone faults, they only were 4 very strong personalities (esp. Lennon/McCartney) which couldn't really compromise with each other that much anymore as they did when they were younger.

That's just how life goes...

I have no problem with the female species, i just cannot stand Yoko she is as bad as kathy lee, I do not blame her for breaking the beatles up, I blame her for just being annoying, but there is one positive, without her we would not have the song Hey Jude, but other then that i agree with Stratman, it would have been better if both had been shot.

Hiya all once again,

Going back a page or so of posts, I can dare to trash the White Album, but with due respect. Understand, I am a manic Beatles fan, or maybe maniac is more suitable. I love all of their albums, including the early stuff, which I find to be gems, but I have to admit (even though I love it to death) White Album was definitely overrated. But then again, I think Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt Pepper's and Abbey Road were some of the best releases in the history of the world of music. I always loved the rooftop performance of "Get Back" as well. I do not like Paul's solo stuff, or Wings, or especially Yoko (God bless John for supporting that woman, especially her awful music career, though I'm sure he loved her dearly). I don't know, having your wife in your band kind of is offputting.

As far as Abbey Road and all that goes, you can just hear the band members maturing, and eventually you knew it would end, they got too big for even each other. But in those ten years or so, they left their mark well enough. Oh yeah, one last note, Magical Mystery Tour was a good album, but the movie sucked. I think they did better with Yellow Submarine...wow, that one was out there.

Love from the Underside,
`Me`

See, right there is the problem with women. They just take everything too seriously.

Well Daedalus, the White Album wasn't really overrated (well I'm referring to the time of its release anyway), actually all the critics wrote very bad reviews, complaining about it being either too long, or lacking continuity, or a collection of solo efforts by the 4 put together and the like.
Well, it REALLY wasn't collaborative, you get Blackbird which is only paul, Julia which is Only John, Ringo walked out of the sessions in mid-recording so Paul played the drums on many tracks, George was pissed because they wouldn't let him do more than 4 songs... it also lacked continuity, for sure, but it's so full of art...

It's a confused work, but undeniably a very beautiful one.

So if it has been re-evaluated more recently, I would say that it deserved it, not that it's became an overrated work!

BTW, ain't it kinda weird, but interesting, to talk about the Beatles on a Floyd forum?

That song was written by paul to Julian that is correct, Paul wrote it when his father seperated from his mom and went to Yoko. The song was meant to be a message to Julian that everything is going to be okay. Hence Yoko helped to contribute to the making of Hey Jude in a round about way.
