"Sounds like somebody's living in the past. Comtemporize, Man!"

If you're a Syd fan you're living in the past. The music still sounds contemperary, though! I don't pride myself on following up to the minute details of people who want to be left alone.

David Gilmour obviously knows people that are in Syds life. If he spoke to Syd that doesn't tell us anything about Syd, now does it? His nephew took the time to talk about the real reality and I thought it was handled better than anything I have ever read or heard about syd. I think it's too bad someone called it rubbish (another post). Syd writes and paints and doesn't WANT to sell his stuff! That is a rare and beautiful thing for someone in his position. (The position being: he could make money!) Sorry about the OLD news.

Re: What Syd Wants To Forget

Hey i think its great that Syd is painting etc and i think he should be left alone BUT I do not find that nephew thing to be credible. I love Syd's work and think he should be left alone and am probably beside "Barrett Fan" his biggest fan and you all knew that when I joined the forums (remeber the screenplay? (speaking of which BFan ya wanna help ))

cheers

Re: What Syd Wants To Forget

Thank you kindly.

Hey Thorin (or anyone) is there a video out there of that Pat Boone interview where Syd just stares at him or was that an audio interview or what? I'd love to see that.

That was a TV interview.
However, I have no idea where you could get it.

They probably destroyed the tapes immediately. It never went on the air I would think.

Re: What Syd Wants To Forget

That's an interesting propasition (sic.).
Then again, maybe the Pat Boone show was live. And then, they would have had no reason to destroy the video, because the whole country had seen it.
Then again, your theory sounds the best, because I haven't heard of the clip being seen anywhere.

Re: What Syd Wants To Forget

Yeah 'cuz Syd is kinda tragic. But the idea of someone doing that to Pat Boone is classic. How uncomfortable for that dork.

Re: What Syd Wants To Forget

Damn SCARY hippies. I read an interview with Pete Towshend once from '67 or '68 and he said something like ...."but it's nothing like the pink floyd. That's scary." He must have seen Syd on a bad night.
