Synchs. Coincidences. Mysteries. Floyd. These things make my imagination run wild. I never was sceptic, and now I have a band that I can relate to. I know I have posted something about this before, but now that I have tried it myself I have to tell someone. The synch of 'Echoes, the best of' with 'E.T. the Extra Terrestial' is in fact legit. I just reviewed the entire synch, starting my cd1(Astronomy Domine) right when the Paramount/MGM globe comes onto the screen, and ending on cd2 with 'Comfortably Numb' as the finally. At the end of the first cd, just pause the tape/dvd until you have the cd's switched over to cd2, then start track one as the same time you press unpause on the tv. If you are sceptic, please do not comment on this subject. But if you want to see for yourself that this is not a coincidence, then check it out for yourself. And try not to be under the influence when you do this, you must pay attention to get the full effect. After a round, you can always get fried and watch it again, like I know some of you will (not me). Anyways, try this and see what you think. The below link is to a website that has all of the info you need. I cried at the end too, just like when I first saw it. Enjoy Floydians!

p.s.- "Echoes the best of" came out in 2001. And the song 'Echoes' synchs with a part on '2001-A Space Oddessy' (the Jupiter and Beyond the Infinate part). Strange? Heheheh.

Yeah. Floyd. I know, bigger than God.

Yes, I tried this sync a few months ago (after reading about it on the Pink Floyd Synchronization Story). It really does work, though not quite as well as a couple of others I tried. Simple things, such as increase in volume = increase in tension, are really amazing. I suggest anyone with a copy of Echoes and ET try it.

No way i don't think PF planned any synchs, although i hear that Roger Waters did intend Echoes to be for 2001 in some way, but still i don't think that he would have actually made Echoes fit in with that space sequence.

I honestly find it monumentally hard to give these sort of things any kind of credence at all.

It's all a bit publius, frankly.

Wouldn't it be really, really difficult to sync a bunch of pre-existing songs to a movie? I mean, I can understand someone imagining that an album was written and intended to match up with a movie but..... a best-of collection? Unless all those songs were written 30+ years ago with the intentions of matching up to a movie that hadn't come out yet....

Oh, sorry. No skeptics.

Um... yeah, man, what a cool sync. Yeah.

It really was the only logical answer.

I don't really believe any of these so-called syncs are intentional. For every one of the synchronizations there are one hundred things that don't match up, if they were intentional, they were badly done. Even the infamous DSotR fits this bill. Personally I find them entertaining, though the majority of what I have found on the internet suck.

I've never bothered to sit through any of these so-called 'synchs'. Call me a Skeptic, but it just makes no sense. You can eat too much candy at the one time and that's just the fact of the matter, when it comes to ludicrous nonsense such as this.

Not that I'm a dissenter, or anything...

Cheers (is filmed before a live studio audience),

Mark

Call me a septic tank, but I enjoy them even if I am fully aware that they are nonsense.

Well that's fair enough. As long as you're not trying to propogate the myth that any of these so-called 'synchs' might have been intentional, then fair play to you. It's the noughties after all, a man's gotta have choices, a man's gotta have a bit of variety.

Carmina burana,

Mark
