Look, sydbarrettghost. There are more people who hear Syd in that record. But even the Beatles, such documentated band, say that there's no Syd.

I beg to differ. It is in fact entitled "What's the New Mary Jane" and it is nowhere near as weird as "Mailman, Bring Me No More Blues." There are four people playing on this song: John Lennon, George Harrison, Mal Evans and Yoko Ono. No one else. Not Syd Barrett, none of the other Beatles or Floyds, no one.

I still think Yoko is Syd in disguise.

It would also explain why Paul was so upset about John sleeping with her.

Re: Which "Rare" early Floyd track...

I have "what a shame mary jane", and that is definetly syd. It can't be anyone else. besides, if you remember correctly, Pink floyd and beatles were sharing the same studio building when tehy were recording what would be both legendary albums (piper and sgt. peppers). They were literally down teh hall from each other. Dont you think its at all possible that they just hung out and started jamming, and someone pushed the big "rec" button? I mean, it is a building filled with recording equip, right? I actually read somewhere that the floyd DID meet the beatles during this time, and they said they felt like they were meeting the royal family.

Re: Which "Rare" early Floyd track...

This track 'What A Shame Mary Jane' and/or other track '...New Mary Jane' beg to be relistened to. I have heard more than one .mp3 claiming to be Syd with the Beatles and on one of them it is clearly SYD! There is no doubt in my mind. While the audio is not mixed well, this song has layers, possible overdubs, and all of the bleakness Syd can add by singing on a track that is obviously a Beatles studio recording circa 68-69 complete with all the weird chimy things in the mix. They were known to be in separate rooms at Abby Road then and it is possible that they sat in on one another's sessions. I've also heard people say that it's not Syd, it's John Lennon singing, but you can clearly hear both of them on the version I have. I credit the poor (not too bad) sound quality on the aging acetate of the original studio cannister of this very deffinately Syd w/The Beatles track. However, it is also possible that they were never in the studio recording together, as this sort of song could have been made-in-the-mix from separate tracks of the same song creating the impression that they were together at the recording. We may never know, but it is Syd. And, if Yoko was there, she's the one passed out in the corner.

Sorry this post was so long.
