Trip to London

The other day I returned from a 10 day trip to London. I decided that I would try to make it to a few of the PF sites that I wanted to see in person. First off I love the city and the memories will be with me forever. I would love to return to the country side at some point but would also love to visit London again.

First site was Battersea Power Station. I could only get a shot from across the river on a bridge heading to the station. We had walked down along side the station but the railroad lines are there and they are doing a ton of construction in that area. I didn't want to get in trouble trespassing. I will post the pictures I took from my phone once I load them to the computer.

Second site I went to was Earl's Court. I would of loved to look inside but it seemed like it was off limits. Two guards at a gate. I got the best picture of could being in the direct sunlight. I will post that as well once uploaded.

Third I went to Hammersmith Odeon. I went their mostly for my knowledge of a few bands I love playing there; Rush, Thin Lizzy, so on. I will uploaded that pic as well. I wasn't aware that the name has been changed to Hammersmith Apollo so I was a bit confused when I got there. Lucky I had my cellphone and could look it up. I would of loved to look inside this theater as well and probably could of and should of. Maybe next time.

Last I headed over to the Royal Albert Hall. Wonderful looking theater I would of loved to look inside this one as well but it was closed. I look pictures out front and across the street at the Albert Memorial.

We stayed near South Kensington Underground station and one night went to eat at this Asian restaurant close by. I was sitting there trying to use my chopsticks when I heard a voice I recognized. I turned and looked and said I know that face but at first could not recall who it was. It all came to me and I said that is Syd Barrett's room mate Duggie Fields. My sisters didn't believe me so I went to Google and pulled up his picture. I didn't say anything to him since he had company and would never bother someone having company. I imagine Syd's old apartment (which Duggie still lives in) was pretty close by.

Also went to Abby Road to do the traditional walk and see the studio in person. I would of loved to check out some of the old venues that PF played
at if they are still there. I also thought about seeing if the Regent Street Polytechnic was still there.

Anyway that was my adventure and I will post a few pictures when I upload them.

I'm jealous! I haven't been to London since '93 and the look of the skyline and the docklands etc are all changed and upscale. And at the time, Battersea was still just derelict.

I never went to Earl's Court however. I was nosing around the Beatles sites!

I wanted to go to more and a few Beatles sites. I only went to Abby Road

It was really fun and I can't wait to go back. This time I want to stay out in the country side and then travel into London. I would also love to go back a third time and stay in London again, around the same area.
