Question Best Live Recording!!!

Vote for the best live recording, it's interesting when it comes to which live recording people preffer.

Note I reffer to each cd instead of the compilation in itself, and also I only posted a few bootlegs, there are tons. Since everyone has their own favorite bootleg that's another poll.

Note I did not add 'Live At Pompeii', truly awesome compilation. If you preffer Pompeii well state it in a post, I preffered to add my two favorite bootlegs because they deserve the same recognition that Pompeii has recieved over the years.

Thanks!

See ya, when I understand the spaces between friends!

Pompeii, of course. Cheeky of you not to include it.

Guilty as charged of course. But I knew that if I included it, almost everyone would choose between Pompeii or Umagumma, those are also my two faves.

But Pompeii has gotten enough praise at this point. In fact I'm still waiting for the recored execs to realize this and work on the sound and release it the way it should be. Man oh man, that would be nice, same with a Pompeii DVD.

Even so, back to my original idea, there are lots of live recordings we have now a days that are good (PULSE, DSOT, ITAOT, among others) and lots that need revival (a few awesome bootlegs). Pompeii is just something we discovered, there's still a lot worth revitalizing and for many fans discovering.

Did I make my point? Hope so!

See ya, you're nearly a laugh, but you're really a cry!

BoaB, I agree with you wholeheartedly.
Ummagumma is only really notable (to myself, at least) for CWTAE and Astronomy Domine. As for ISAOT, I can't really choose between discs.
And I haven't heard DSOT or Pulse...
Pompeii will get my vote anyday.

 ,

Cool Pompei

I have the Pompeii performances on a double RoIO CD, the sound is good, and there are also other tracks, but it doesn't say where do they come from: there's AHM suite, If, Fat Old Sun and a Live version of the whole DSotM!!!
Do you think it's possible they did them all in Pompeii, too, but edited them out of the film?
Actually I doubt that version of DSotM can be from '72, as there is On the Run like the studio version.
And maybe the other 3 are from the BBC sessions, which I don't own.

It's time for EMI/Capitol to release an official recording, and also reissue the film on DVD.

If they did play anything else at Pompeii that we haven't heard yet, there's NO WAY that a bootlegger got ahold of it. Those other performances must be from another show.

"Echoes in the Gardens" from 6/18/75 is an awesome RoIO! That would have to be one of my favorites as far as boots go. Now, for official...either ITAOT or PULSE.

I really enjoy listening to Harvested's Complete Concertgebow CD, and Who Was Trained Not to Spit On The Fan? (Oakland, 1977, I think). 'Tis a pity there isn't more good Animals tour recordings. The best of the officially released Live CDs has defininitely got to be ITAOT. It's better than the album!

for the songs that weren't performed at Pompeii, I'd say Pink Floyd Live at the Electric Factory, 1970.
