Things That Are Annoying Me About Pompeii

1) It wasn't easy!
2) I think it's just the way it was recorded. If you listen to the tracks from the Dark Side of the Moon, they're also 1/2 step up. Either they just did it because they thought the performaces were too slow, or it was just recorded that way, or maybe to save some time on the tape.
3) That was tape on Mason's drums, he was muffling them to give them a better contained sound, especially in an open field enclosed by ruined stones.

What annoys me about Pompeii is the fact that on some of the songs Rick has a beard and on the others he hasn't and they are mixed up, so one song he has, the next he doesn't. I know it is only a little thing but it ruins the continuity of the 'concert'.

Maybe he's just really quick with the Rogaine and a razor.

or he's just a Gnome who can grow a beard whenever he chooses
and retract it back into his beard glands (only Gnomes have them) when he doesnt want it.

The segments of the Pompeii film where Rick doesn't have a beard were shot in a Paris studio some time later as there wasn't enough time for the band to shoot all they wanted to in three days - no gnomes involved!

Dear Sir,
the thing that is really anoying about Pompeii is the splashes of lava from that bloody volcano Vesuvius. I have written to the Senate on 5 occasions, as the ash is taking the paint right off my new chariot. They sent a bloke in a toga round to have a look at it, but all he did was say they couldn't do much about it, other than note down it was causing a bit of an annoyance. Mark my words, one of these days ( hey..good title for a song) that bloody thing is going to erupt!

Pompeii is great the original cut is better only cause those crappy cg effects arent there

I didn't think the CG was crappy, only unneeded.

What about the totally unnecessary train in Echoes? Didn't look very cg to me!

It wasn't unnecessary at all. Brought back fond memories of my visit to Abbey Road, especially the shot of the St. John's Wood tube escalator.

I never saw Pompeii.
