| Re: ANNOYING Floyd stuff!!! Oh My God, I dared to say annoying. Well, yes, I think that's the word to describe bits here and there scattered through Pink Floyd's albums. Don't get me wrong I looooove ALL their albums, still, one aspect here and there really makes me cringe, especially cause I'm the kind of guy who refuses to fast-forward anything from the Floyd. I figure that if it's there, it's cause they wanted it there, and I respect that. Here are a few things that annoy me: a) The chanting on the end of 'Absolutely Courtains' From the Obscured by clouds album. The first 4+ min. are really good, but that chanting... yeesh. b) I really really like 'Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast' from Atom Heart Mother, and *some* of the sound effects on that song are great (Marmalade, I love Marmalade), but still, to this day I can't get over the chewing and the eggs frying (?), They're just so distracting and the chewing is disgusting. I've gotten used to them by now, I like the song the way it is, but still... c) The cononuts falling on Nick Mason's drums in the middle part of 'The Grand Vizier's Garden Party' (Part Two - Entertainment) from Ummagumma. I like the song, the entrance and exit are OK and the middle is 'admirable', I've gotten to appreciate it more with several listens, but still, that banging.... I know some people are annoyend by complete songs, like 'Seamus' or 'Take up thy Stethoscope...', etc. And some are annoyed by whole albums, still that's just a matter of taste. I'm talking about the tiny little details that get under your skin. Like to know what you think. Thanks!

| Re: ANNOYING Floyd stuff!!! This may sound "blasphemous", but after being used to PULSE, parts of DSotM actually manage to grate on my nerves! For instance--the sound at the beginning of "Time" seems so tinny and lacking in the power I think it ought to have. Also, there is one place in "Money" where the guitar has a rather harsh sound to it. And "Comfortably Numb". I just don't like the studio version very much at all.

| Re: ANNOYING Floyd stuff!!! Yeah, also, the beginning of Time in DSOTM is a bit annoying, I know it's very good, but if you're listening to the record in a high volume level and/or with headphones, it really hurts. Also, I always thought it was too highpitched and a but lifeless or unisipired.

| Re: ANNOYING Floyd stuff!!! I dunno kinda always liked that quirky stuff they add to their music, it is what they do, I mean from piper on they did it and i am sure some earlier singles had the quirky stuff on it, i mean if they didn't do it we would never have the "i dunno i must have been really drunk at the time" durring money! _________________ The madcap laughed at the man on the border hey ho,huff the Talbot the winds they blew and the leaves did wag they'll never put me in their bag ~Roger "Syd" Barret Non Waters Fan #000001.9

| Re: ANNOYING Floyd stuff!!! Was Woody Woodpecker around at the time? Anyway, I thought it was a klaxon or a demented pengiun sound. It sounded rather funny. |

| Re: ANNOYING Floyd stuff!!! Ahem... "A Saucerful of Secrets": from point 2min40sec to point 3min56sec when that effing irritating howling and barking squeal begins and fortunatly ends before Nick's rolling drumming takes over to continue what otherwise, ironically, would be one of my favourite Floyd tracks. If I could excise that short segment, I would. SOYCD (finalé): not really annoying, but after playing WYWH so often, and many of those times, erm, being "narcotically enhanced", and loving it SO much, the melancholy ending is a SERIOUS downer. It's like there will never be - in fact, there never was (doubleDOWNER) - Floyd like that ever again. Unless of course one played WYWH again...and again...until that bloody depressing ending everytime. Now, (travesty!) whenever I hear it's sad solemn tones begin, I get a sense of foreboding...and fast forward to the next track in my PF library. ![]() Shameful Floydian, Byron

| Re: ANNOYING Floyd stuff!!! Yeah I know what you mean Bride, I get that from almost every floyd album, but everything must end, even if, like me, you hope floyd songs didn't stick to the laws of time and space, but... And you can't really tag the end of an experience (as any floyd album is) as something annoying, maybe depressing but if that's how you look at it, then the end of Division Bell is 'REALLY' depressing cause you kinda know it's the end. Now that's hard to swallow! P.S. there's nothing like a floyd album that carries nostalgic meaning, to me their albums are the only ones that do this to me. See ya around, biding my time! _________________ who are you and who am I to say we know the reasons why some are born and some men die beneath some infinite sky... so all things time will mend so this song will end Gilmour in 'Childhood's End'

That's quite weird... Y'know, Byron, in fact SOYCD Part 9 is one of my top 5 instrumental segments ever put to record by the Floyd! I just love that dreamy, vintage-sci-fi kind of feel, which is one of the things that make me love good old Analog synthesizers... And most of all Rick's playing is soo heartfelt on that track! It IS indeed a downer, but one that is truly soaked in sheer beauty. All credit to Mr. Wright (hey FloydWright, hope you read this! )Oh, by the way, Which One's Pink? ![]()
