quiet Desperation

Greetings fellow Floydians!
Has anyone like me, ever noticed during 'Time' on the Pulse DVD when Rick is singing Hanging on in quiet desperation, is the english way... That he seems to exchange a private 'twinkled grin' with Dave? Always makes me wonder if there's a private jolly between the men where that lyric could refer to the length of time between Rick's fall from Roger's graces and the length of time he sort of hung on till dave put the band straight with the momentary lapse and delicate sound...
i just finished editing down a collection of my favorite all time guitar solos with the one from 'Time' heading the list just ahead of the 'Numb solo'
