'Sunshine'... Scary?

I got a Pink Floyd bootleg called "Sunshine". It's supposedly an outtake from the Piper sessions; but that's not the point.
If anyone else has heard this, tell me one thing... do you think it's scary?
I mean, listen... try sitting in a dark room. And blast the intro to "Sunshine" over and over again, really loud...
Doesen't it remind you of demented carnival music?
When the song turns into the main riff maybe twenty seconds in, the song isn't scary anymore.
But it sure scared the hell out of me when I first heard it...

(scared out of my wits),

-Shane

(Is this 'outtake' even really a genuine one in the first place?)

Re: 'Sunshine'... Scary?

I wouldn't know that either. I've seen outtakes with both of those names... which one this is, I don't know.
Oh yes, Thorin13... does "Sunshine" (or "In the Beechwoods") sound SCARY?
Just wanted to know, because I started this thread at about 4:30 in the morning last weekend, after drinking 5 cups of coffee... it sure sounded scary then.

Re: 'Sunshine'... Scary?

I think it is interesting to hear studio outtakes with Syd Barrett on them...
I am listening to Sunshine right now... it still sounds pretty demented... with it's horribly overdriven organ intro, distorted bass, odd (but great) guitar line, and almost inaudible drums.
I dunno... it is pretty good. And very interesting!

(wondering just what about Sunshine scared me to death),

-Shane

BTW, is there any good live recordings with Syd?

Re: 'Sunshine'... Scary?

sunshine (also known as "In the Beachwoods") is an unreleased instrumental from 1967, an outtake from the Piper sessions.
It can be found on some RoIO cd's. For example, on the "Outtakes from Outer Space" it's listed as "Experiment".

The sound quality is very poor, but the song is nice. I really like it

Re: 'Sunshine'... Scary?

One of the most creepiest CDs would be a whole CD of Piper outtakes. Hearing rejects of Syd in his prime would be rather spooky. Who knows what little biscuits of music he cooked up but didn't make it on the album.
