Wink Do you still have a PULSE?

In response to a comment in another thread, I thought I'd start this up...anything related to the blinking light--longevity, battery-changing instructions, and so on, can go here.

I do not own Pulse. I think I should, though.
So, FloydWright, I assume yours is still blinking away.
Good to know!

I've got the very first american version. Now I think they released a new one, without that charming LED...

I've only seen an edited version of the video on TV, and based on that I will wait for the DVD and never touch the CD. Ever.

I changed the battery on my EMI release. It's very easy. Just check this URL: http://users.netmatters.co.uk/djw/floyd/pinkfloyd.html

It blinks very faintly, though...you can only see it in a dark room, but it's still going.

I did buy the video recently; haven't had the chance to sit down and watch it yet, but if the parts I've downloaded from Morpheus are any indication, it should be a real treat to watch.

Though obviously I wished I had a DVD of it (packed full of special materials, new interviews, a behind-the-scenes, and so on), I think the video will be VERY cool indeed.

PULSE, by the way, was my introduction to the Floyd.

Wink Cassette

My confession: PULSE was actually the first PF recording I bought, straight upon its release in '95, but as I was 12 and couldn't afford the CD I just got the cassette edition, which featured no blinking led.
At that time I did know very little about Floyd history, and I only had a vague notion of how they were left without the main man, this one being not Roger, but Syd, so I thought they were still the same band they were in teh 70s (I knew Syd had left early on, although I was convinced he was some sort of vanished guy, about whom no one knew whether he was dead or locked in a psychiatric hospital or living in some far away country and the like).
Then I got more and more into PF, listened to the real DSotM (immediately being impressend thousand times more than how i was with the PULSE version) and found out who Rog was and what the real great Pink Floyd were about.
I still seldom play the cassette in my stereo however, but only to hear the Solo in CN.

The solo in that CN is quite amazing, isn't it?

Personally, I admit (and this may be PF heresy to say) I was actually underwhelmed by the real Dark Side, except to note the great talent of Clare Torry. For me, the sound of PULSE is so much more impressive.

I, too, bought the original CD release w/ the blinking light...and it lasted about 4 years on the original battery. I've always wanted to replace the battery.

But... ...I seem to have misplaced my Pulse CD...

I need to tear the closet in our family room apart to find it. I know it's in there!

I'll be if I lose it. It just won't be the same to have a non-blinking version.

I really hope you find it!

If I lost MY copy of PULSE, I might cry! It's a very sentimental item, for me, being my first Floyd album and all.

Unhappy R U kidding

No way, dear FWr!!!
It's just overpolished, over-edited and there are too many musical parts that are not performed by the floyd themselves (alright for Dick's sax, which was the same on the album, and for the backup singers, but renwick-pratt-carin and the percussion guy... they're all very good but it simply ain't Floyd anymore); Brain Damage/Eclipse are very weak, the solo in Time is flat, the singing is nearly annoying...
It's not a bad performance, and it's great they managed to perform it all after all those years, but there is just no comparison IMHO!!!
