Thank you for greetings and compliments

Barrett Fan, Marx was writing about social structure, and we can say that Marxism is about social structure, but Marxism is not social structure itself.

yes i agree with that, but it is wierd because it is not meant to be a social structure but yet you can kind of try to create a social stucture out of it, however it would fail because most humans are simply assholes

Hi Amused

Yes Roger is a socialist but in England socialism is very accepted many people are socialist. We are the olny country in the world that worships capitalism. Countries that have integrated socialism into their form of government are all of of Europe and Candada. Norway is considered or was in last years pole the number 1 place to live they have a very highly socialized structure but no poverty.

In my opinion Rogers political beliefs are best expressed in AMUSED TO DEATH. Consider these words from TOO MUCH ROPE

" A vietnam vet takes his beard and his pain
Back to Asia again. Sees the monsters they made
In formaldehyde floating round"

This gerald the mouse or whatever guy is really stupid. If you turn your back to politics, politics will turn on you. That's all I am going to say.

In addition, it is obvious that not only have you all not read "state and Revolution", but you have not read all that much material by Marx, or were sleeping when you read it. The only other option is that you read it and paid attention to it, but you were reading from censored copies. Stalin censored the works of Marx and Lenin to make it look like he was communist, and I wouldn't be surprised if the copy on my own bookshelf was "edited", though I do not think the leaders of the world are scared to death of communism any more.

There is a distinct difference between communism and Socialism. I will try to explain this as simply, but as completely as possible.
THIS IS HOW THINGS SHOULD AND COULD WORK ACCORDING TO MARX, ENGELS, LENIN, AND TROTSKY, AND NOT HOW THEY HAVE WORKED SO FAR

Socialism is in the fist stages after the revolution. there is still a government, but right from the start it should be in the process of withering away.
Eventually, if nobody like Stalin comes to power, the government will simply lose power over the people and you wont need policemen. The police will be the people, just looking out for one another. This is communism. Money is no longer necessary, government is no longer necessary, and there are no classes and thereefore, no class antagonisms.
By the way, this must be worldwide to work.
Anyhow, I dont feel like writing an essay on it, and so ill let you do your own research.

Tarkus,

I know you've had the remarkable sarah goode on yours and Eupen's case (assuming you and Euphen are indeed seperate persons) so I won't give you such a hard time.

However, I believe you stated somewhere that you are 14 and a trotskyite, and if this is true, I think you would be wise to speak less and listen more, or as Elvis is blaring at the moment, "a little less talk, a little more action."

This isn't meant as an insult, but I really need to understand,
A. What the hell do you know about life and living in the real world that you haven't gained from books?
and
B. How dare you lecture people here about politics when you're still sponging off your parents or whomever for your existence and not having to put your political beliefs to the test of hard reality...yet?

Anything can SOUND good in theory, but practice is the true proving ground. Here's one for the quotes and maxims thread: "The proof of the pudding is in the eating."

Again, You really have no right or grounds to call anyone stupid because of the way they think about something. Please just say that you disagree with something or someone and give your reasons; this is what civilised adults tend to do...when they aren't blowing themselves apart fighting wars, that is. :o

So, spare just a little more thought for the community you're in before you go piling in to people for their beliefs or lack thereof. I'm sure most of us are willing to entertain any thoughts or feelings you may have regarding our favourite band, but religion and politics should really be left out of it.

Anything to avoid these sorts of exchanges which divert us from our true mission here: all things Pink Floyd.
