Re: "What Roger Wants"

It would be nice if PF released an autobiography similar to the one the beatles did, I think it would be really interesting to find out what went on during the breakup from each band members point of view! Does anyone know if there are any plans for anything like this or shall i dream on?

Re: "What Roger Wants"

There are still bad feelings between David and Roger, so it's unlikely at the moment, as unlikely as every project seriously involving Roger and the three Floyds together i.e. a Pink Floyd Beatles-style Anthology, an official biography, and so on (who said "reunion tour"? ) They hardly managed to compile Echoes, with a lot of work by James Guthrie.

Re: "What Roger Wants"

I never said that Rog wasn't an *sshole, or that Dave wasn't an *sshole, or that Rick isn't a nice guy. I only said that none of us knew them personally, so really we should probably keep our criticisms of them to their art.

Yeah, NNJ, I dug what you were saying the first time around. It is best to not criticize someone, especially if you don't know 'em.

Re: "What Roger Wants"

Of course! Do you think, though, that if I wanted to steal it permanently, I would've drawn so much attention to the fact I was doing it?

Re: "What Roger Wants"

Didn't you notice the smileys? I was being light-hearted about it. Of course I knew you wouldn't steal it permanently.

I see the point you were making though. Its not Rick who heals my wings but someone else.......... who isn't here sadly.........

Ah well.

Red Bull gives you wings and I can finally finish my sign-off,

Red Bull (still in fits of hysterics)

Re: "What Roger Wants"

Someone of very moderate opinion, who is always reasonable and considerate, can see both sides of the argument, makes me slightly less red...... in other words acts as my moderator!

Well there's the description, have a guess.

Hint: we're in email correspondence at the minute. This should be easy.

Red Bull gives you wings and I'm flying high, above the trees!

Harmlessly passing your time in the grassland away
Ignoring only your foes who work it out and care
You'd better watch out
You better have no doubt
I've looked over Cambridge and I've seen
It's part of the Hypocrite's dream

Deaf, dumb, and blind, you just keep on pretending...

Come back when you have impressed millions around the world with your art, joker.
It is easy to be a jerk when all the people you have worked so hard with become content and don't have any thing left to give. Pink Floyd would not be in the running if it was left up to Wright and Gilmour back in '77. Gilmours first solo album? It's alright but would those songs have maintained floyds status as great artists? Wrights' Wet Dream? Is that up to par with Animals and The Wall. You hate the man responsible for keeping your favorite group relevant? 60's bands were a dying breed back in '77. Another darkside of the moon at that point would have been a nail in the coffin for floyd. If those guys pulled their weight would Waters been an asshole?? No. He was disgusted with their complacency. The fact that it took 8 people to write Momentary Lapse should tell you something. If you don't like Waters you must think Division Bell and MLoR are their best work. Those albums alone without everything Waters helped accomplish before would not be huge sellers. Your poem is lousy. Do you think you'll ever do anything as great as Waters. When? We're waiting.

Re: "What Roger Wants"

Some of us respect his work--but do not like his personality or past actions. (Though note PAST actions...I'm convinced the current RW is much changed!)

And Wet Dream? Come on, it's not SUPPOSED to be Animals or The Wall--it's not a Pink Floyd production. It's supposed to be Richard Wright doing what HE wants to do. Apples and oranges, there.

OK...I'm glad to see that. I never thought you were bashing it. I guess I just thought you were comparing two things not meant to be compared; that's all.

I have gone backwards on this last post, I'm afraid. It brought up all those old feelings just when I had moved beyond them. I apologize. I should not have read that poem! It just bothered me. I am glad Roger sent you that signed picture and you have a new respect for him. I think alot of the harsh things he said back in the late 80's were regretful and he seems to have a better attitude now.

Which I think is good progress. This is part of why I so anticipate his next studio album...I am thinking some of his newfound peace will show up in it.

Quote:
There is a guy from Chile who is on the internet and Waters made his dreams come true just by taking the time to talk to him and his friends last year. He told a beautiful story about it and if you searched Waters/Chile or the like you would probably find it. It meant so much to this 30 year old man that he was in tears. Waters seems like a jerk to some but he is loved by many more. Ahh, the price of being an artist.

I think I heard the story in question, and it has certainly been nice to see.

In my case...I would probably just greet him with some small pleasantries and move on. I quite simply would have little to say. Normally, this would simply be shyness. However, one of my flaws--and I readily admit to it--is that when I have strong feelings on a subject, I may say something to someone at an inopportune moment, and unfortunately, I DO have a talent of coming up with some vicious insults. And to tell you the truth, I don't want to ALLOW myself into a situation where I might do that, especially given the fact he HAS changed quite a bit. It would be cruel and wrong for me to say things like that unprovoked.

One good thing I think Mr. Waters is doing is learning not to act out of his flaws. I think all of us--including me--can learn from that.
