But what happened on the pub crawl?

A lot of drinking...a few D & Ms about life and chicks and whatever...a few failed attempts at chatting up women...just the standard pub crawl thing. My last memory is of some of the lads singing Pearl Jam at a Karaoke place...I think at that point I CHOSE not to remember anything else!!!

Here's Gilmour from 'guitar heros', may 19, 1983: DS> Why did Rick Wright leave? DG> "Um... What's the best cliche I can think of...?" DS> Well, Roger Waters said: "Our paths were not parallel enough." DG> "That's good enough (laughs). You'd have to ask him really. Ask Rick one day." DS> Yours and Roger's paths are still parallel enough then? DG> "Well, no they're not really. We diverge quite a lot but we do still just about manage to work together and we still have got things that we can contribute to each other. I think the thing with Rick was that he didn't have anything that any of us felt was contributing to what Pink Floyd do." DS> What, compositionally or...? DG> "In any way." |

Like I said in the same post you have quoted "He was tossed 'cause he wasn't DOING anything. Period. End of story." for the supporting material Sarah. Last edited by Driven; 07-14-2002 at 06:48 AM.

I hate to use a Clintonism here, but that REALLY, REALLY depends on how you define Pink Floyd. If you define Pink Floyd as Roger Waters conceptualism, then a free-flowing, musically-focused composition style wouldn't fit. But if you define Pink Floyd as a musical sound, then to lose either Mr. Wright or Mr. Gilmour would irrevocably change that. Mr. Wright himself admits to having not had that much inspiration at the time. I can understand--the band was pulling in a different direction, and it was hard to fit into that. That and all the personality conflicts, which just added to the pressure. It strikes me, just from reading (and since I can't hear it, I can't be sure), that Mr. Gilmour was being a bit snide to this reporter. Think he just didn't want questions? Or is there another reason?

Upon reading my post I decided I didn't want to go there. I 'erased' it. FloydWright, as a moderator you can probably read what I've edited anyway. Is this true? You are the one I edited it for because it was about Rick Wright not being perfect. Last edited by sarah goode; 07-14-2002 at 06:05 PM.
