Calling all Beatles fans, Re: The White Album

I got bored in school and decided to do this, i was wonderin, if you had to take the white album down to a single LP insted of 2. with, say 13 songs. What would they be? I guess u need quite a lot of time on your hands to answer this so i dont expect much but its a v.hard task!

Anyway, i decided on these:

1. Back in the USSR
2. Dear Prudence
3.Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da
4. While my guitar gently weeps
5. Happiness is a warm gun
6. I'm So Tired
7. Rocky Racoon
8. Why dont we do it in the road
9. Birthday
10. Everybodys got something to hide except for me and my monkey
11. Helter Skelter
12.Revolution 1
13. Savoy Truffle

I agree for the most part, but...
I say: take out track 8 (Why Don't We Do It In The Road) and put in "Long, Long, Long".
I really kinda enjoy "Sexy Sadie", but I don't know where it would fit. "Savoy Truffle" seems to be a good culprit, but that song is too damn catchy!!
So maybe add "Sexy Sadie" between "Revolution 1" and "Savoy Truffle". That would make it 7 songs a side on L.P. ... nice and even!

I have to admit that the same subject has baffled me for many a boring class period...

-Shane

Yeah i like sexy sadie but i find why dont we do it in the road really catchy! Never really liked Long Long Long, I always thought it was too quiet. It was a struggle to leave out Bunglaow Bill as well... Yoko's voice put me off tho'.

I'll always love "Back In The USSR", but the rest of it just depresses me now---reminds me of the Tate-LaBianca murders.

Don't be so wet, stratters,

Just skip over Helter Skelter and you should be fine.

I was in LA at the time of the murders, the manhunt, trial (aka set piece "trial of the century"), sentencing and imprisonment and I remember the furoré, but will I let that stop me listening to The White Album? I will not. D'ya think Terry Melcher sleeps well at night?

There also seems to be an abundance of porker avatars on this thread.

Hmmm..."KILL THE PIGS!"

Yeah, yer probably right, Boab...but, still, some of those other songs would creep me out now. (Sexy Sadie, Blackbird, Piggies)....It was long ago and far away when I owned that album... but I guess I'll have to go round up a copy; someone mentioned Savoy Truffle--that rocks. Glass Onion too, as I recall...

Interesting, I was in Hayward (bay area) at the time of the trial...I remember the "trixter" pronouncing Charlie "guilty" and about blowing the whole G-D trial to hell...entertaining stuff.

Yeah, I bet Terry has a loaded .45 Auto under his pillow to this day.... And I'll bet Dennis Wilson still has the creeps.....oh, that's right, he's dead.

Post "the Beatles" 1 LP version

Although I believe it's great as it is, my 13 tracks would be:

Back In the USSR
Mother Nature's Son
Glass Onion
Why Don't We Do it In the Road
Blackbird
Yer Blues
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Happiness Is a Warm Gun
Dear Prudence
Cry Baby Cry
I'm So Tired
Heler Skelter
Long Long Long

Although maybe some tracks like Julia, Birthday, Everybody's Got Something ... would deserve to be included, too...
I guess that's why they made it a double album then
