Because I know that it depends on the mood I might be in, or what album recently became my fave or which Floyd member I happen to admire the most at the time, so... What I would like to do is post the songs that no matter what happens or what mood I'm in, or which records I happen to listen to, will always be among my favorites, even if there is 'the rest' that change every week. Hope I made myself clear Anyway, here are my choices for Floyd songs that no matter what are always among my faves: * Echoes * Shine On You Crazy Diamond (all) * Time * Comfortably Numb * Dogs * Wish You Were Here I like all floyd songs, but these are always right up there, and they mean a lot to me at a personal level, all of 'em bring back memories MMM, I just got nostalgic, Anyway, what are your "no-matter-what-happens-I-will-always-love-this-song" list. There's no need in limiting ourselves to a number (as top 10's do). Hope this gets somewhere! See ya, and so I throw the windows wide, and call to you across the sky!

I will always like... Echoes Breathe Brain Damage Time Hey You Comfortably Numb Astronomy Domine and Wish You Were Here I consider Echoes to be perhaps the greatest Floyd song (no debates, please...) Breathe, Brain Damage, and Time all hold great sentimental value for me... all helped me through times when I thought I was going insane. Hey You and Confortably Numb are special to me because they were from the first PF album I heard... and they're still great songs. Wish You Were Here is there because it makes me sad sometimes, and it's also great fun to play on guitar... And Astronomy Domine because it is simply a great song, in all moods...

I can always listen to: CN: the perfect Floyd song. David's music and Roger's lyrics. Roger's strained voice in the verses and David's beautiful voice on the refrains. And the best guitar solo ever (any version...) SOYCD: I can't even list the reasons. This song is too good on too many levels. Echoes: This song has it all. Mellow blues-like feel in some parts, awesome power-chord middle jams, great keyboard work, David and Rick signing in harmony, what else is there? WtIO: Rick hits a homerun with this one. Great melody, cool rhythm, insightful lyrics, and you can tell it means something to Rick. I love David's guitar fillers throughout the song, also. WYWH: In my mind - the defining song for the band. It's so incredibly simple, but so powerful. Time: Another near-perfect song. Great lyrics, a great tune, and some great jamming from the boys. See Emily Play: My favorite tune from the Syd era. Cool chord progressions and it gives a real look into Syd's psyche.

The Delicate Sound.... version of "Time" will always be special to me. That was my doorway to Pink Floyd. I heard it once back in 88 on the radio, and was blown away. Dave sings that version with that gritty, aggressive edge in his voice; and coupled with the great guitar solo and the powerful lyrics, well, I sprinted to the record store and found DSOT...I got that one 'cause it had Learning to Fly on it which I also loved. When I listened to those two vinyl LPs my life was changed forever. other special ones to me: SOYCD Learning to Fly CN Run Like Hell Brain Damage/Eclipse

A difficult task but, lets'try. Echoes. Perfect, just perfect. Shine On You Crazy Diamond. As for Echoes, it's a song where the band is perfectly balanced, all members at their top. Time. The Great Gig In The Sky. The high moment of Rick Wright. Wearing The Inside Out. A Saucerful Of Secrets. Mystical, mysterious, underrated. Comfortably Numb. The high moment of Dave Gilmour. Us And Them. Summer '68. Careful With That Axe, Eugene. Poles Apart. Sorrow. Last edited by mad yannis; 05-11-2002 at 06:10 AM.

Brain Damage/Eclipse is I think the closest to a musical-influenced orgasm as you're likely to get. There's just that sensation of hearing all of 'Dark Side' in it's glory and peeking with perfection. To me they don't play that well separated or heard without previously hearing all of 'Dark Side'. That's just me. Pure musical bliss.... I don't think I'm overdoing it. Oh and the versions on PULSE and In The Flesh aren't *that bad*. That's on a personal note also, I don't think they're bad and no way near the originals of course. See ya, From morning to night, I stayed out of sight!
