And they refused to let Kubrick use ATH for A Clockwork Orange... seems they have a flair for crap movies only

Re: best song on the "MORE" album

That was only because Kubrick didn't let them score 2001: A Space Odyssey... that's one rumour why, but it would make sense, aside from the fact that they probably hated AHM by then.

So in return for the AHM fiasco, Kubrick didn't let Roger use HAL's dying speech from 2001 on Amused to Death, hence the backwards message in Perfect Sense.

Re: best song on the "MORE" album

Pity that. A good band that could only do music for B-movies at the end of the day. They just haven't got a good soundtrack instinct do they?

Although maybe that was only for the money. Its amazing what the chink of money can do.

Re: best song on the "MORE" album

Hey, hey, come on. Seriously, can you blame them??? In 1969 they were at the very beginning of their post-Syd career and that project gave them extra royalties from EMI. Seriously, can you blame them?

Re: best song on the "MORE" album

Yeah, but they've been doing exactly the same fairly low-profile soundtracks their whole career. I mean, "Ruby Takes A Trip" is not exactly the blockbuster hit of the summer. Nor "When the Wind Blows" or "Legend of 1900."

Re: best song on the "MORE" album

Maybe it was what was offered. After all, they can't very well score films unles they are asked.

Re: best song on the "MORE" album

Well, yes, if he actually DID hold a grudge about them not letting him use Atom Heart Mother Suite. That's pure conjecture. He might've not let Roger use the 2001 sample for purely artistic reasons.

Re: best song on the "MORE" album

But didn't they ask to score 2001, and he said no?

Re: best song on the "MORE" album

How could they have even known he was even working on it? You forget that it came out in 1968. Kubrick had probably decided to use classical musicn long before they were even popular in the underground.

Re: best song on the "MORE" album

You may have a point.

On a side-note, Kubrick actually did ask someone to score it, but in the editing room they used the classical stuff to help get the timing down, and make it flow better. Kubrick liked it so much he kept it, and told the other guy to get lost.

Re: best song on the "MORE" album

I remember reading that, too. I think he even released the original score, too (or part of it), a few years ago.
