You all know, we are looking for something strong for years, and after all there should be something to satisfy our own souls. what do u think about these subjects?(in which way they can make their own stand) First: Literature; nothing really good is coming through these days, so need something badly i think, what is it? Second: Music; after the golden ages of real music, we see only big shits all over the music industry. explain what you want to see for a real strong kind fo music. thanks

jeepers you are being VERY judgemental Literature wise I think children's literarture has been given a boost by Harry Potter and his wondeful adventures almost like the rebirth of Enid Blyton Music wise I think things like the John Butler Trio and Powderfinger (both Australian actualy) are amazing Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Radiohead, tool, the tea party etc I mean the 60's and the 70's were revolutionary when it came to all this but every decade brings something exciting, you just gotta open up your eyes and ears to it cheers

I think the problem today is that there isn't much out there that can be considered truly original anymore , everything you hear is just a variation on a theme. Still , some of those themes are well worth regurgitating and there are new/newish bands out there that are well worth listening to , Radiohead being just one example. They are at least attempting to break new ground with their last couple of albums.

Actually I think that the problem is that back then only the best bands were signed, today thousands of new bands are popping up every year, and 99% of them suck. And some of them aren't even bands but just jingle-makers to sell their merchandise. PS while I was typing this that allergy medicine commercial with the Who song came on.

It sometimes pisses me off when good songs are used to promote products. At least the Floyd have largely stayed away from ads, and when they did do something odd (like the Gini incident or the 'special' VW Golf) and feel bad about it, they donate the money to charity (or write scathing songs concerning souls and deserts). It really seems like a breath of fresh air, for a band to not totally go overboard on loaning their songs for ads. Shane |

"Overture"? I can dig your tears, Thorin13... I would have cried myself! Tommy is one of the greatest album that the Who did! One commercial that's pissing me off is the Gap commercial with the Beach Boys' "I Know There's An Answer" as the music... ,-Shane

nerisom@hotpop.com And then, what do you want to see for a new wave of something, that comes from the real feelings, absolutely the strongest thing for inspiration? Any suggestions...?

Nerisom: I suppose that I would dig music that is totally pure, totally covered in emotion. Only a few bands have done this: Portishead, Pink Floyd... hmm... only ones I can think of right now. But more bands like this would be awesome... too many bands these days are too concerned about the money they might get, or the women they might have, or too many material possesions. Any new bands that were absolutely dripping with all kinds of unbridled emotions would definately be enough inspiration for me. For as vague as all the above stuff sounds, I suppose it could happen... Thorin13: "the gap commercial that i don't care for is the one that uses "love is all around" by the troggs." Are you being sarcastic? I mean, Pet Sounds is the only Beach Boys album I like... Don't make me cry... Aw, you did!!! (j/k) -Shane

Shane, I know that line in your signature is misprinted in the lyric sheet that comes with ASoS, but it's really "One inch of love is one inch of shadow." But that's not your fault...like I said, it was misprinted, and it really sounds like that!
