Question segassem neddih dna dyolF kniP

Those of you who've braved the subject title...I've a question.

On The Wall, about 1:15 or so through "Empty Spaces," there's backward speech.

I recorded it and ran it through Windows' sound thingy backward, and figured out part of it...it's Waters saying:
"Congratulations...you've just discovered the secret message. ("Thank you for listeneing to"?) Old Pink. (garbled, something that sounds like 'job', garbled)."

I'm trying the 'attach file' thing to send an MP3 of the clip. Download, and give it a listen, if you want.

...anyone else have any ideas toward this?

Thanks,
Jer.

It says:
Roger Waters: "Hello, you have just discovered the secret message. Send your answer to old Pink, care of funny farm, CHALFONT" (Roger says it with exasperation, because he gets interrupted)
Someone in studio control room: "Roger, Carolyne's on the phone." (This guy is talking into the studio over the talkback system. Carolyne is Carolyne Waters, Roger's wife then.)
And then I think Roger says "Okay" or something like that, in response.
I remember listening to the Wall on vinyl, and trying to turn the record backwards to decipher the message, which didn't work. I later turned the CD backwards in Cool Edit and got this (with deciphering help from the Pink Floyd Encyclopedia).

Thanks, all.

Anyone tried to figure out the backward stuff on "Amused to Death?"
If not, I figure I could do that sometime this week.

While I can't recall the exact phrase, I believe it had something to do with the greatest film director of all time, Stanley Kubrick.

I'm referring to the Amused to Death thing.

Re: segassem neddih dna dyolF kniP

No one has gotten it just right yet. Here is how it goes:

<Roger>Congratulations...you have[it doesn't sound like he is using a contraction] just discovered the secret message. Please [he says "please"] send your answer to Old Pink care of the funny farm.
<guy on the phone> "Roger"
<Roger>CHALFORD --
<guy on the phone>Caroline's on the phone.
<Roger>Okay

Re: segassem neddih dna dyolF kniP

It's Chalfont, not CHALFORD, so nobody has yet got it totally correct.

More info on Chalfont St. Peter <link>

What's the backwards message in Perfect Sense?"

It's really (REALLY) difficult to decipher, so it's impossible to be 100% certain about all the words. But having said that, here's something that at least conveys the basic point, from the ATD Transcript: Julia, (pause)however, (pause - 2nd thunder in normal direction)In the light and visionsof the issues of Stanley, (pause)we changed our minds. (pause)We have decided to includea backward message, (pause - 1st thunder in normal direction) Stanley, (pause)for you, (pause)and for all the other book (short pause)burners [very loud, noisy, screamed sentence(you asshole?)]
The story goes like this: Waters had asked Stanley Kubrick if he could use some lines and ``breathing effects'' from his ``2001: A Space Odyssey'' film on the album. Specifically, Waters wanted to include the part about HAL's shutdown [from the ATD song book]: HAL: Dave, my mind is going...I can feel it...I can feel it...My mind is going...There is no question about it...I can feel it...I can feel it...I can feel it...I'm afraid... Mr. Kubrick refused. So Waters dubbed in his own breathing effects, and recorded a nasty message for Kubrick's benefit. Heaven only knows if he's heard it, or more importantly, if he cares.

He must be rolling around in his grave now that Roger's playing the "Stop Dave" part at his concerts.

Or was he cremated?
