Also "The Gold Its In The..." is also good. David's guitar work on that song is awesome.

Tough choice....I voted for Childhood's End, but ALL of the songs on this album are strong save for the ending part of absolutely curtains.

The title track: Obscured by Clouds, has some of the best synth I have ever heard. The most fantastic intro to a floyd album. So powerful.

Burning Bridges is simply beautiful.

The Gold It's In The... and Free Four are fun sounding (though the latter has cynical lyrics, still love it).

Mudmen is surprisingly strong considering the title of the song. It's one of the strongest pieces on the album.

Stay is absolutely gorgeous....and Rick's voice! Why on earth didn't Rick sing more songs for the Floyd??? He has an amazing floydian voice!

>>"Life is a short warm moment, death is a long cold rest" that good.OBC just takes me away on journies far away.I agree with you 100% that This The 1 ALBUM WHICH HAS/WILL ALWAYS REMAIN THE MOST UNDERRATED!why?bcos somefolks dont know rock n roll.
Yes i agree that "MUDMEN"S chant is what Comes as an anticlimax to the whole album;i mean it does nothing but disracts and makes my finger jump to "FFWD/NEXT TRACK" button on my audio player.
Maybe I am getting wiser listening to the SERIOUS stuff you & co. have put up here via commentary and pink floyd's other aspects;from album to artists and all.It sure makes me appreciate more the respect owed to SUCH GOLDEN ALBUMS;which i never would have given a second thought*(THOUGHT=THINK=MIND). Thanks BOAB and all here in this hall.

Stay. Maybe the most underrated of all PF songs.

Re: Best track on Obscured By Clouds

I voted for Free Four though I probably need to listen to the album again. Just about all the songs but the finale (Absolutely Curtains) are great. I also recommend that you read All Music Guide's(allmusic.com) review of it, as it's good for a laugh.

This album is in my top 5 Floyd albums, BTW:

1. Dark Side
2. Animals
3. Wish You Were Here
4. Meddle
5. Obscured By Clouds

I'm sorry lunaticccc, but I DID warn everyone in my orignal post - is it 3 years ago this month? - that choosing a favourite track from OBC might be difficult.

It's perhaps harder now with the mounting evidence of knowing which for many fans is definitely their LEAST favourite, and it's still a tough one for me. Maybe a further review might provide clarity?
