| Uh, interesting one... I am currently working on two musical projects, and looking forward for at least one of them to breakthrough. The one I feel involved in the most is the group I struggled so hard to get together after the split of my previous, very mid-teen years band. It took me about 2 years to complete the line-up and it's been another year since, and only now we're starting to get it going. The band doesn't have a proper name, as we are switching from "grinding halt" to "icebag", unable to decide between the two and really looking for something better. I am lead singer, guitarist and sometimes keyboardist and the line-up is a classic guitar-guitar-bass-drums. The other project surely is an easier one to carry on, as we are about to perform some particularly crowded gigs and have already been offered a contract. The reason I feel less passionate about it, though, is that I have only recently been involved into the band as synth/keyboard player after being asked by a longtime friend of mine. The project goes under the name of "Ludwig Van" and still is a rock-oriented one, but with an interesting electronic added bonus which I am supposed to provide, and is built over 2 main musical influences: U2 and PF. I really wonder if someone will ever bother to read what I just posted... Cheers everyone ![]()

| Thank you guys, I really appreciate that both of you have wasted time reading uninteresting band biographies... now that I know you've paid attention to it, which name do you think works better, Icebag, Grinding Halt or do we really need to look for something better?

| Re: Who's In A Band? I think Grinding Halt is pretty good. As for being brothers, Thorin... that would be cool. |

| Re: Who's In A Band? awesome. as for the band name add a "the" at the beginning. all bands sound cool with a "the" in front of them. well most.

| Re: Who's In A Band? The Grinding Halt? Sound nice. I would go with that. As for The Icebag... that sounds like a little-known after-hours club in Montana. It least it sounds like it, anyway. |

| Re: Who's In A Band? just don't ever go with the brass rail. thats the name of a gay club in san diego. not that there's anything wrong with that.

| Re: Who's In A Band? I've always been fond of "What About Peggy?" as a band name, and the members would become affectionately known as the "Peggies". thorin: address?

| Re: Who's In A Band? Thanks a lot for the suggestions! And as for the type of music, as you asked, well the covers we used to perform were from the Ziggy-era David Bowie, early Cure, Devo, a couple PF of course and Joy Division's Love will Tear Us Apart. Sometimes we also did The Who's My Generation. Now with the new songs it's basically a matter of translating all these influences into something new that can be reminiscent of our idols without being a rehash of their style. For instance I recently wrote a bunch of songs: two fast ones, one more like acoustic-fast-pop, the other a rocker with a melodic vocal line and an echoing riff with some keith richard and some the edge in it, then an atmospheric long one with an arpeggiated guitar intro that eventually breaks into a powerful rythmic structure à la Dogs and sincopated drumming, a slow, dreamy and melanchonic 3/4 tempo and a couple of instrumentals that are still works-in-progress. So what do you think? Cheers, G

| Re: Who's In A Band? All the covers you mentioned are awesome. I am in love with early David Bowie. The Who, early Cure, Devo, and Joy Division are awesome, too. Your song ideas sound good, also. BTW, what Bowie songs did you cover? |
