It's about a rock star (called Pink Floyd) that gets tired of the pressures of fame, falling into big depression and abusing of drugs to bear them. Pink "builds a wall" isolating himself from everyone, trying to escape from his own world and, in the end, puts himself on trial to see what he can do to "tear down the wall".

As "Pink" falls into depression, all the formative causes are examined: Dead Dad, over-protective mother, abusive schoolmasters, awkward puberty, marriage-gone-bad, groupies, etc. drugs given to Pink to keep him going turn him into a neo-nazi, which finally brings him to the self-trial.

All in all, quite a depressing piece. Not as depressing as TFC though. Its a no-no to listen to if you're already feeling down. Red Bull gives you wings but its no good if the wall is too high, Red Bull

Nazis weren't exactly on the Wall. Pink wasen't exactly a Nazi, but he was acting a lot like one. He only began to act like this because all the things that happened to him (dead father, snubbed marriage, over-protective mother) finally pushed him to the brink, and he decided to act like that. I think the story is awesome, because it is so monumental. It really gets in my head, and makes me think. It is depressing, though.

Yeah, Pink wasn't a nazi, but got to imagining that the huge stadium-rock shows he was performing was analogous to the giant Nazi rallies at Nuremburg during the mid-to-late 1930's. If you've ever seen the films of those rallies, you are immediately struck with the similarity. So (thanks to the drugs he was being given to keep him going) Pink imagined himself to be like Hitler strutting about on the stage, inciting the adulating hordes of worshippers below. This was just one of the things Roger noticed during the 1977 "In The Flesh" tour that gave him the ideas that showed up in "The Wall". Yes, the character Pink was definately modeled after Roger's life. Yeah, it's depressing as hell, but DAMN I love it!!!! Last edited by stratman; 05-18-2002 at 09:25 AM.
