Uhmmm, the story is about a guy called Anakin Skywalker, Jedi knights with lightsabers, the rise of the Empire, another guy called Obi Wan Kenobi... how is it possible that it had another name than Star Wars?

Re: Favorite Star Wars episode?

The Empire Strikes Back is by far the best one. I must also mention that Darth Vader is the freaking man!!!!

Episode III, if done right, should be the best one yet. Anaking turning to the darkside and killing all those pathetic Jedi bastards. I can't wait.

i agree to all of that. i can't wait till episode III also. it should be very dark and it'll end on a bad note which will be cool. but on the other hand when it does come out thats it. no more star wars movies.

Re: Favorite Star Wars episode?

The only way Lucas can pull off Ep 3 and keep the suspense for future generations, is to make it appear that Darth Vader killed Annakin. Otherwise the surprise of Empire will be lost.

By the way, if you need me to point out the similarities between WoO and Star Wars, well your better off watching one of those two movies again.

I think that for Lucas, the act of surprising us is less important than it may have been 20 years ago. I mean, if you had had the Jabba scene that was cruelly pasted into the re-released Star Wars, then the sight of the ****er in the first few minutes of Jedi would have held far less weight. I think, when it comes down to it, the story and explanation of Vader's origins and the reason that he bacame the baddest asthmatic tranny in da universe are the defining factor behind the continuation of the series. It doesn't really explain the total misfire that E1 was, but, thank Christ he listened to some good advice on this one. You've got to remember, with regards to E1, he had only directed a mere handful of movies prior to Star Wars, then not another after until E1, so it's not as if the guy's got a shitload of experience to fall back on. Coupled with the fact that he had total creative control and zero script doctors for the first one, I'm surprised that it actually got released at all. Still, there's no accounting for public demand. I think that what happened with the new one, is that George might have listened to a bit of advice from more levelheaded cats in the wake of that particular debacle and realised that if he didn't want the original 2 (ok, AND Jedi)tarnished in our memories, that some polishing of the new series would be in order. I also noticed that it wasn't solely Doug Chiang responsible for the design of the thing this time, as his stuff was pretty samey and, if not generic, could certainly be attributed to a particular time, movement or country, artwise. The battledroids, for instance, are soooo African art and the Naboo fighters are nothing more than Studebakers with wings (and shit actors as pilots). With the new one, there's more of that BladeRunner feel that the fans expected for E1 and an actual body count too. I really dug the new one, but feel that it was almost something of a fan's fantasy, to make up for what went before.

Now, if he could just get round to removing the 'new' Greedo scene from Star Wars, that would be great. The thing that we all loved about Han Solo was the fact that he simply iced Greedo from under the table and didn't give 2 ****s about it.

Right?

Cheers,

Mark

I don't like him because of his breathing problems (LOL!).

BTW, have you seen Spaceballs, the Mel Brooks parody? Nice movie, almost equals Star Wars!

Are you being sarcastic?

If not, let me remind you that Han shot him well before he had the chance to pull, thus ruining the whole redemption thing at the end.

My biggest prob with The Stupid Editions is that Chewie still didn't get a medal. I mean if Lucas was gonna spend an absurd amount of money ruining a classic, he could have at least done one thing right and gave everybody's favorite wookie a medal. I mean in EP 1 Artoo was rewarded for bravery. A f@#$ing droid for crying out loud. I mean everybody knows he was just doing what he was programmed to do.

Anyway, how come Obi-wan didn't recognize R2D2 in Ep 4?

OK, now I have revealed what a big dork I truly am.
