| Re: Favorite album from this era ![]() NNJ, your last post in this thread (unless I'm not reading correctly) doesn't even relate to the matter of the breakup. What's wrong? If it's those other RW fans...I'm thinking of people in some different fora, not this one.

| Re: Favorite album from this era I get my view from interviews as well. It all depends on who you feel the most commonality with, in the end. BTW, I sent you a PM. Please tell me if you need help accessing it.

| The Final Cut for me This is the album that introduced me to Pink Floyd and as such has always held a special place in my heart. It still makes the hairs on my neck stand out.

| Re: Favorite album from this era The wall and ITAOT the wall but if ITAOT was there, that would be my pick. I do love the guitar solo on Fletcher Memorial home. And I love dogs

| Re: Favorite album from this era As I reread this thread I was thinking again about how much more dynamic "live" shows are as compared to the more sterile studio albums. I would love to find a good copy of a "live" Animals performance. Does anyone have a recommendation for an Animals-based ROiO? I plan to start searching ebay, etc.

I went ahead and bought what sounded like a great deal off ebay for $20.00. Here is part of the guy's writeup. I hope he's honest-----(Sorry to bore y'all--I'm pretty amped): "Total of five discs in sleeves with set-list, all are in excellent condition, custom rare artwork provided. This includes the famous July 6, 1977 Montreal, Quebec show where Roger Waters first curses at the audience, then lures a fan close to the stage and spits in his face. According to the book "Saucerful of Secrets" by Nicholas Schaffner, this was the show that inspired Roger Waters to sit down and write The Wall......In addition, it is my opinion (and that opinion has been validated by others who have written to me) that the New York show is the best ever recording of David Gilmour on guitar during "Shine On...". It really is spectacular and I recommended to any fan, die hard or casual. Sources: Montreal Stadium Disc 1 1. Sheep 12:15 2. Pigs On the Wing I 2:15 3. Dogs 18:16 4. Pigs On the Wing II 4:05 5. Pigs (Three Different Ones) 20:01 6. Shine On You Crazy Diamond I-V 14:11 Total Time: 71:06 Disc 2 1. Welcome to the Machine 8:16 2. Have a Cigar 6:15 3. Wish You Were Here 6:41 4. Shine On You Crazy Diamond VI-IX 24:06 5. Money 11:44 6. Us and Them 10:04 Total Time: 67:09 In addition, I am including the two disc live show from 09 May 1977 Oakland, California--(Sources): Disc One 1. Sheep 2. Pigs on a Wing (pt.1) 3. Dogs 4. Pigs on a Wing (pt.2) 5. Pigs (3 Different Ones) 6. Shine on you Crazy Diamond (pt.1) 7. Welcome to the Machine Disk Two 1. Have a Cigar 2. Wish you Were Here 3. Shine on you Crazy Diamond (pt.2) 4. Money 5. Us and them 6. Careful with that Axe Eugene. And the 02 Jul 1977 live show from Madison Square Garden in New York--(Sources): Tracks 1. Shine On You Crazy Diamond 1-5 2. Welcome To The Machine 3. Have A Cigar 4. Wish You Were Here 5. Shine On You Crazy Diamond 6-9 Total 53:47 As an audiophile since age 12, I can assure you--the sound is very good. Each set is a pure show from start to finish with no tracks skips or blankouts. "

| Re: Favorite album from this era Congratulations Stratman, you've got the three best 1977 ROIOs I know! Very good sound and historical performances (CWTAE and the whole Montreal show with THE BEST Pigs I've heard). This set doesn't look like a "Dark Side live 1967" type of bootleg, so it should be okay.

| Re: Favorite album from this era Id Have to agree on The Wall, animals has a great list of songs Pigs on The Wing would have to be my favorite off that one and The Final Cut (Fletcher Memorial Home) but the Wall seems to have a certain magic to it and maybe its me but its a terrific album and movie and is an incredible theatrical side of Floyd.
