best song off of 'Piper at the gates of dawn'

I voted for Flaming. Not sure why eveyone is always enamored with Astronomy and IO. They never really did it for me. Flaming is the most whimsical, psychedelic thing Syd & co. ever did

Lucifer Sam should have been Floyd's biggest hit. If ever there was a song that screamed single, that's it. The record company execs made a blunder on that one.

I voted for Bike, but Astronomy Domine would come a close second.

I voted The Gnome, because it was the first Pink Floyd song I heard, let alone one of the first songs I ever hears, so it reminds me so much of my childhood. Put that aside, and it's still a great psychedelic track.

Intersteler Overdrive. The whole song is just insane plus the into kicks arse.
But i have to give Astromine Domine its dues. Its a great song a perfectly shows the style of music they were making. Still Overdrive is just more fun and awseom.

THAT WHOLE ALBUM IS A WORK OF ART IN ITSELF.
Each song exemplifies the work of Syd Barrett perfectly!
They should have made Lucifer Sam an absolute hit-- why they didn't realise that as a single, god knows ):

i agree the whole album is great. it has moments that are whimsical enuff for a child to enjoy, yet still groundbreaking for its time and place. where would the world of Pop,Psych,Prog,Space, Rock music have gone without this gem? I Love it all but I'll say Mother Matilda!! But its all so great. Thanks Syd!!

For me I choose amongst Flaming, The Gnome, and Bike.
I think I give the nod to Bike (I pedal mine to work most days, listening to Pink Floyd).

Bike got my vote, BUT it's really hard to choose just one number from that album. In my opinion Pipper at the gates of Dawn is THE best PF album ever made!!! It is a mindblowing album and it's so sad that Barret went out on a limp unable to get back. In my opinion, Syd Barret is the soul of PF and his spirit lived on with the band for ages. Lately it was so clear to me that Wish You Where Here is one big tribute to Syd Barret - not only Shine On You Crazy Diamond, but the entire album, and it made me so sad. What a lose for the world that Barret was disconnected to RL - he was such a genius.
