| Re: best song off of 'Piper at the gates of dawn' i think ben is confused. if i remember correctly bike and some other songs were not on the american release. they were substituted for arnold layne and see emily play i think.

| Re: best song off of 'Piper at the gates of dawn' The other night I was lestenin to The Piper, very relaxed with candles and everything... and i found out thad syd is one of the best songwriters in the history of music... Astronomy Domine is one of the most modern piece of music I've heard frm the 60's (and is far better than all the other version)... but Lucifer Sam is mi favourite... all the guitars in there and all the noises and everything.. is incredible... no words. |

I believe that Flaming, Astronomy Domine, and Bike were taken off the original Tower Records release. They held Flaming off the album for single release, which they paired with The Gnome. See Emily Play was added to the LP. |

The tracklisting was also rearranged: See Emily Play Pow R Toc H Take Up Thy Stethoscope and Walk Lucifer Sam Matilda Mother The Scarecrow The Gnome Chapter 24 Interstellar Overdrive Which I think is more than a bit stupid, really. I mean, not only did they eliminate the two best songs on the LP, they also screwed up the flow from song to song.

| Re: best song off of 'Piper at the gates of dawn' I vote for Astronomy Domine. The sounds in the beginning, the vocals, the instrumental part... I just like everything a lot. Matilda Mother, Interstellar Overdrive (a true Floyd Classic) and Lucifer Sam are great as well.
