Although I think Pink Floyd is BY FAR the best name--if I had to choose another, it would be Sigma 6.

I do admit to finding it funny that there IS such a band as Megadeth (sp?).

But I believe they came after the Floyd tried and rejected that name.

Yes... I found Meggadeths to be an odd band name for the mid-'60s.

Nonsense question, really.

They stayed with the name they should have: Pink Floyd or The Pink Floyd Sound if you want to be picky.

i like the pink floyd sound too. its a really late 60's kind of name. might've sounded prehistoric by the mid 70's maybe though.

World Wide Words - Screaming Ab-Dabs

Q AND A SECTION

SCREAMING AB-DABS

From A friend said during a recent discussion on cinema that horror films gave her the screaming ab-dabs. What are ab-dabs and where do I find them? : "Rob Ewen, UK"

To give someone the screaming abdabs (or habdabs) is a British expression for inducing an attack of extreme anxiety or irritation in someone. It's recorded in print from the middle 1940s.

There are few certainties about its origin. Eric Partridge, in his Dictionary of Slang and Unconventional English, says that the screaming abdabs was a late 1930s expression for an attack of delirium tremens, but... etc.

"Always a pleasure, never a chore."

p.s. to thorin: yeah, but imagine the PR plus-factor in reviving the name in the 80s, 90s, or dare I imagine, the noughties(00s)

Good research, BoaB. It's good to know it's never a chore, but a pleasure...
As for what to call this decade, I usually refer to it as 'the new decade', since I really don't know what to call it.
And Thorin, I believe the next decade is techically called the teens.
