Nadsat? Is it a dialect of Russian they use in that book? That's what it looks like to me.

It does have some Russian in it, like chelloveck and some other words. And other words are slang, like 'eggiwegs' for eggs.

What really puzzles me is how Alex refers to pieces of toast as 'lomticks of toast'. What an odd peice of language! I have no idea what a 'lomtick' is. It doesen't sound Russian to me.

BTW, has anyone read the book before thay saw the movie?

i like the word "appy polly loggy" or apology. i read the book a couple of weeks before i saw the movie. which made the movie a bit easier to watch.

I read the book before I watched the movie. Very nice, indeed. I must agree with Stanley that the final chapter of the novel should have been left out.

I also think that Nadsat should become the official global language.

I saw the movie first. And without the movie, the book would have confused the hell out of me. Because the movie has some Nadsat, which is understandable. But the book is ALL Nadsat. And that would have been confusing.
As for the final chapter... when the movie left it out, the movie had a very abrupt, but good, ending. But don't you think the movie would have wrapped up better if the final chapter was thrown in?

BTW, why did Kubrick leave the final chapter out? I thought it was because he worked with an American copy of the book... which was missing the last chapter.

.......

Have hardly been on the computer the past 2 months due to a crap load of homework. Plus, I just needed a break from the forums.

Sorry about the ATH scare, I must've been looking at a really old thread (silly me).

I would have to say that the funniest Nadsat words to me were "in-out in-out" and "flashed into my gulliver". If only everyone talked like Alex.

what nonsense. ATH is nothing to fear nor is PinkA nor any other instant and obvious arsehole on the Internet.
Glad to see you back again, MadcapD.

I read the CO book long before I saw the film, however, I read the MAD magazine spoof of the film before I read the book, all a long long time ago. They were all horrowshow.

I'd spout nadsat round my Air Force colleagues until one recognised the Russian bits and that led to many a fine escapade.

p.s. And BDG is still my favourte Floyd.

Good thing Nick doesn't have an over-inflated ego. He seems to me like the type of guy who would rather be driving one of his many exotic autos (or perhaps flying). Nick rules! (but I still voted for BDG)
