Dogs all the way! The last part where waters almost yells out a long string of single lines was beautiful

Does anyone know what that line was supposed to mean?

I believe the "official" line is: "Who was taught not to spit in the fan?" but NNJ's quote makes reference, and thus could be the truer import, to Roger's extreme reaction to an overzealous fan by spitting on him.

"Oh, what I wouldn't give to be spat at in the face. Bleedin' favouritism, that's what it is."

Re: favorite song from "animals"

How could it be about that? That incident happened at the end of the Animals tour, long after the song was written

It may have been Rog's variation on the old adage: "Don't piss into the wind."

Re: favorite song from "animals"

Dogs isn't bad but the structures all over the place.

Pigs on the wing - not a fan of Waters nasally voice in this.

Pigs 3do - starts well atmospherically but goes of the boil a little.

Sheep - My favourite and possibly considered musically the best by 3 floyd members.
I love the melodious beginning , very similar to 'shine on' part 2's finally.

Re: favorite song from "animals"

It's so easy, for me, to answer this question.

Dogs

What would have been this album, without this song?

Re: favorite song from "animals"

As much as I like how Rick Wright sneaks in a bit of the Dr Who theme (like on One of these Days) when playing Sheep live (listen to the concert where Roger "spits on the fan"), I gotta say that Pigs (Three Different Ones) is my favorite song on the track. I kinda like Dogs, but I never was able to really get into it. Pigs is such a great rocker that I forget about Dogs. And then the sheep get mad because the pigs get all the attention........

Re: favorite song from "animals"

I would have to say Dogs because of the variety in the song and the break in of the bass in the verses.
