Is it only my opinion, but Not Now John (the song, not the member) seems to me like an attempt to make second "Money" and the middle part of The Final Cut ("there was a kid who had big hallucination...") sounds almost like the refrain of Comfortably Numb. I don't think this is only an accident.

I utterly despise the song, despite my handle on this board. I think it was Rog's attempt at a hit single, rather than keeping with the flow of the album. It has some good lyrics, here and there, but the tune is all wrong.

I don't think it's all wrong. Actually, I quite like it. But it does not fit in the album. I've also got my hands on the vinyl release of Not Now John / The Hero's Return - Parts 1, 2, which I think is unbelievable, becuase I don't live in England or the USA. The so-called "obscured" version of Not Now John there is nearly the same as the album version. The only difference I've noticed is that they sing "Stop all that..." instead of "F*** all that...". This is because of the USA I think.

Whether or not the music style fits the rest of the album, I think the intense emotion and frustration in the song compliments the theme of the album well. I always enjoy listening to it. Sometimes twice.

Well, I will admit it has grown on me, I simply listen to it to keep the album in its original form.

I agree with you when you say "There's a kid who had a big hallucination" onwards sounds a lot like "There is no pain you are receding" and onwards.
I noticed it the first time I didn't sleep through the album.

I have to say Post War Dream it's so revealing I think. I love it when the guitar comes in! Go Dave!

OK maybe Two Suns In The Sunset is my fav, it is by far one of the saddest songs I have ever heard. The sax at the end pulls at me sad button
