Actual, proper real vinyl

I've picked up a few nice copies from The Golden Period recently, including, just yesterday, a mint quadrophonic copy of DSOTM that the woman in Glebe market had mistakenly assumed was a bog standard, well preserved stereo copy.

Ten ****ing dollars man.

Should have been at least $80 or $90, by my reckoning. Pretty chuffed.

Also picked up a green vinyl promo of WYWH, originally sent to radio stations in advance of the album release. There's a blue copy of DSOTM in the same shop, so that'll be the next essential.

Individually numbered, no cover.

Now if only I had access to a record player.

I'd be interested in hearing if you guys have any rarities of an official nature and not just bootlegs or whathaveyou.

Delayed onset muscle fatigue,

Mark

Good searching, fixxlevy.
I've got a mint condition STEREO copy of Dark Side of the Moon, which cost me $9.99 at my local vinyl place. It came with the posters and stickers, too. The only reason I supposed it was so cheap was the fact that it was a Capitol 'rainbow label' release, which I think came out in 1992 or therabouts.
But the cool part is this... there are slight differences in the mix on this LP than the regular CD and orginal LP release. There are too many differences than I can post here, but I'll point some out if anyone would like to know.

BTW, fixxlevy: First, go buy that blue vinyl DSOTM promo. Then, go out and buy a decent record player. Trust me, you will not be disappointed. LPs get better sound than CDs in some situations, especially if you want more bass. LPs are awesome.

So Fixxy, how's your collection of fine knickers coming? Still collecting the stained ones are we?

________

I've got the Syd Barrett LP that has both albums on one. Good condition.

I also have mint copies of the 1979 reissues of Saucerful of Secrets and Piper at the Gates of Dawn on LP. These may be worth very little for all I know but I like them.

Oh yeah. The original LP release of Ummagumma. A little worn.

My friend found an 8 track of animals at a Salvation Army(!) so I have heard the Pigs on the Wing with Snowy. She also has ABBA on 8 track so you know she's cool.

Nice.

I've got those ones that you mentioned, minus the 8 track. I'm pretty happy with my collection (not the stained knickers one, kev. Good to have you back), but am just, ever so slightly, "pissed" (in the American sense) that 'Is there anybody out there' didn't get a vinyl release.

Essentially, that's a whole vinyl collection, minus ONE ****ing record.

still, not losing any sleep over it.

Cheers,

Mark

I've got a few albums. my favorite ones are DSotM w/ original poster and stickers. And I'm not sure if this is rare, but I've also got "The Division Bell" on blue vinyl. It's the same color blue as the cassette was released in here in the USA.

Fixxlevy: if it's any consolation, I think ITAOT came out in a limited edition 1-picture-disc promo, with maybe half of the songs on it.
Maybe you can sleep better... I'm sure you can find it on e-Bay.

Also, Echoes (Best Of) came out in the same format - 1-picture-disc promo.
You know what? There was one complete (4-disc) copy of Echoes at my local vinyl store - $50. I saved it up... came back... and it was gone. Damn!

MFSL vinyl on ebay

Look! It's only got a few hours or so left, but I thought that maybe one or two of you might appreciate this item at such a frankly, very low price. I've got a one of these 180gm beauties already, and the quality is a lot higher than the regular LP's.

Go for it!

Damn! I wish I had visited the site this morning. It's over $100 at my local vinyl store.

Um, I bought a copy of A Nice Pair recently, but I don't believe it has everything it originally had. It's the copy with the "W.R.Phang Dental Surgeon" window in the top right. It came with the Piper at the Gates of Dawn and Saucerful of Secrets vinyls in clear lining. Inside I also found and empty lining that had the cover of Piper on one side and the cover of saucerful and the opposing side. If anybody can help me out with this, I would appreciate it.

Oh, on the back of the cover on the top left, it says "Contains the previously released LP "A Saucerfull of Secrets" plus selectrions from "Pink Floyd", "Relics", and "Ummagumma", plus the single, "Flaming", never before available on LP". I am also currently without the apparatus to play the LP, so am unsure if these "selections" are on the Saucerful LP, but it doesn't have any other tracks aside from the usuals on the vinyl listing.

Thanks...

I failed to mention earlier that I have Nice Pair on vinyl as well. Your copy sounds like the one I have. I thought it was just Saucer and Piper with Astronomy Domine from Ummagumma. I have the uncensored cover.

Yeah, ditto. I've also picked up a, I think, Russian version in the traditionally thin'n' crappy Eastern Bloc outer sleeves. Colours are more a muted purple and magenta, as opposed to the regular full spectrum offering in the west.

Cheers,

Mark

Cool. My vinyl on that one is a bit scratched. I don't even remember where I got it.
