Do you mean Elton John?

Re: Golden Jubilee!

Hardy har har...Elton John is the true Queen...lol

I don't know though, the whole Donald Duck suit thing was a little too much for me. I mean, honestly, if even Freddie Mercury thinks you look like the Queen Mother on stage, you must be taking it to an extreme.

BTW, I think somebody mentioned Brian May's rendition of "God Save The Queen" as being Hendrix-esque...I haven't seen it personally, but did you mean it was impromptu and he used lots of improvisation? Because he did record "God Save The Queen" on A Night At The Opera (an idea which the Sex Pistols would knock off a couple years later, thank you very much) and closed every show with the recording. I don't know, I just didn't understand...perhaps I'm being too anal, which is more often than none the case.

Re: Golden Jubilee!

If I'm not mistaken, the Sex Pistols song "God Save the Queen" has nothing to do with the British anthem, other than the title.
Correct?

I love the Sex Pistols - they were the first punk band I got into. And they were pretty original.

Re: Golden Jubilee!

WI,

I did mean that Brian May's solo rendition of "God Save The Queen" - the British National Anthem - was Hendrix-esque because he started the show with an unusual version of the anthem: May guitar solo.

He didn't add too much improvisation but it just struck a Woodstockian chord in me, is all.

Re: Golden Jubilee!

I have heard a little MC5. They were pretty hard rock, especially for that era.
