Image Entertainment Announces June 19 Release of ''Paul McCartney: Live at the Cavern Club'' on DVD and Videocassette

Historic Concert DVD includes Interviews, Music Videos and More

CHATSWORTH, Calif.--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--May 9, 2001-- Image Entertainment Inc. (Nasdaq: DISK - news), a leading licensee and distributor of DVD programming in North America, today announced the June 19 street date of ``Paul McCartney: Live at the Cavern Club'' on DVD and videocassette.

On Dec. 14, 1999, Paul McCartney performed at Liverpool's Cavern Club for the first time in nearly 40 years. Three hundred people crammed into the historic venue, while 12,000 watched a live simulcast in England's Chavasse Park and another 3 million viewed the concert via the Internet. The event inspired McCartney to revisit his roots, as the band, comprised of David Gilmour (Pink Floyd) and Nick Green (The Pirates) on guitars, Ian Pace (Deep Purple) on drums, and Pete Wingfield (the Housemartins) on keyboards, rolled through songs from McCartney's ``Run Devil Run'' album, as well as timeless tunes by Little Richard, Ricky Nelson and Elvis Presley. The DVD release will include Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound, a video interview with McCartney, music videos, biographies and more.

The Cavern Club opened in January 1957 and over the years became synonymous with the Beatles who performed 280 shows at the venue. In 1982, the club was demolished. Bricks and blueprints from the original Cavern were used to reconstruct the club, which today is a popular music spot, tourist destination and conference center. The Beatles played their last Cavern Club show in 1961.

Sir Paul McCartney is an icon in the music industry, and his special projects from classical concerts and artwork to Beatles anthologies and public appearances continue to garner mass media attention. This month Capitol/EMI will release ``Wingspan,'' a 2-CD package of 40 recordings from Paul McCartney and Wings. ABC television will also broadcast a documentary on the band that features never-before-seen footage, and syndicated radio network, Westwood 1, will air a special about the Wings phenomenon to more than 400 radio stations.

International video sales of the title will be handled through Image's joint venture partner, Aviva International, LLC.
