A Clockwork Orange. I'm always up for a little "ultra violence".

For example, with Floyd, you play them CN, SOYCD or Money or whatever and they don't stop playing it.......

It totally ruins the song, same happens with the movies. Even though Clockwork is a masterpiece, at least 5 friends of mine (and one girl) have seen it, loved it, and hailed it as their fave film. I doubt they even know it's a Kubrick film.

I agree with you there, Bertin.
And I'm sorry for overreacting in my 'two cents' post...

Re: Favorite Kubrick Film

I went with Full Metal Jacket, just because I think Clockwork and 2001 were getting a little too much attention. They are absolutely fantastic films, but you can't leave out Full Metal Jacket...c'mon, the ultimate anti-war war movie. Also, aside from all of the conceptual and artistic mumbo jumbo, the drill sergeant in basic training was a classic insult quote machine...

Re: Favorite Kubrick Film

To be honest, I haven't seen most of the Kube's films mentioned in the above poll. The only reason that I really picked 2001 was that I'm a little overly familiar with both The Shining and Full Metal Jacket, whereas, with 2001, I've only really sat down and properly watched it on about 2 or 3 occasions. I've never actually seen A Clockwork Orange, strangely enough.

Cheers,

Mark

ps- I did catch Eyes Wide Shut at the weekend on telly and found it to be not unengaging, with a wry sense of humour.

I haven't dared watch eyes wide shut yet. Not a Tom Cruise fan. I should check it out but did he die before it was finished? Also, I could not get in to Barry Lyndon at all though the sets and costumes are impressive.

Pet Semetary
The Shining
Cujo
The Dead Zone
Firestarter
The Stand
Christine
Carrie
ect ect ect..
.

I think The Shining, Carrie and the Dead zone are good movies. Kubrick, Brian DePalma and David Cronenburg directed in that order. All decent filmmakers.

I am not a real fan but as a kid I went to Stephen Kings' house on Halloween. It was cool! They had it all done up and he was in costume and scary sound effects records were on. His house is this wild place with gargoyles on the fence and it was right in the middle of this regular little street in Bangor, Maine.

I'm guessing you mean did Stanley Kubrick die, not Tom Cruise, so no, but he did die a few days before it was released.
You should check it out. Very good IMO.

The only two films of Kubrick's I haven't seen are Killer's Kiss and Barry Lyndon. Actually, I haven't seen Fear and Desire or any of his documentary shorts. Thorin, The Killing and Paths of Glory should definitely be checked out, as they are both very good films and are essential viewings for any Kubrick aficionados.

Re: Favorite Kubrick Film

yeah i will definitely do that when i get the chance to buy them. i think only a very small amount of people have seen his documentaries or fear and desire. too bad they will probably never be released.
