"The Pros & Cons of Hitchhiking" is a concept album by Roger Waters, the second in his solo career.

This concept was first thought of as a Floyd project by Waters around the time of "The Wall", but the and turned the idea down as being too personal. It is, in fact, the first solo album Waters released (as Music From "The Body" was actually composed with Ron Geesin).

The story of The Pros & Cons of Hitchhiking takes place in real time from 4:30am to 5:12am. It is about a man living a midlife crisis and dreaming of committing adultery, among other things.

The album cover features a rear-view nude photograph of the model Linzi Drew, and in some countries it has been released with this picture censored.

All vocals are by Waters.
