new info on 2001 sync!

I just watched 2001: A Space Odyssey with the rest of Meddle, and it also worked very nicely! Unpause the CD right after Dave watches Frank spin away into space, as he is walking into the Pod Bay. This is a few seconds into chapter 22 of my DVD (the first edition, which sadly is not the remastered version ).

Spooky stuff that happened (really cool stuff marked with an :o):

Lights on Bowman's face flicker in time with the beat of One of These Days. The song reflects the nature of the chase sequence. The claws grab Frank when Nick screams "ONE OF THESE DAYS I'M GOING TO CUT YOU INTO LITTLE PIECES."

A Pillow of Winds starts just as the death of the cryogenically frozen astronauts starts! This part is really creepy. All the lyrics about sleep and rebirth juxtaposed with one of the most frightening death sequences in movie history. :o

When Fearless kicks in, Bowman gets this look on his face... he's determined, courageous, and, well, fearless. The song climaxes as Bowman prepares for the explosion. The crowd cheers and chants as he sails through space.

San Tropez starts as soon as the scene fades up on Dave in a space helmet, walking to HAL's memory center. This song and Seamus really don't work as well with this part of the movie, so I suggest you turn them down and listen to the downright frightening dialogue instead.

Echoes starts just as the title card for "Jupiter and Beyond The Infinite" appears (of course, I timed it so that would happen ). You know what happens from here. :o
