Barcelona!!!!!!

Well my darlings it has been a long time since I've started something new so am a bit nervous about it but hey here goes.

Ijust got reduced to tears by listening to Freddy Mercury and Monsterrat Caballe singing "Barcelona" and was wondering what you think was the best ever Olympic games opening song. As you can see my obvious opinion would be Barcelona. Its so amazing and Freddy's voice just truly reduces you to tears.

Another point I'd like to raise is that even tohugh Freddy was dead by the time Bareclona came round this still did get recorded on video somwher and I am very sure it has to be availablr to buy somwher if anyone knows I would be very grateful if you could tell me.

Cheers

It's possible. I know they did perform it together on a couple of occasions, not sure if it was recorded though.

Barcelona was by far the best Olympic song. Very beautiful and sentimental...which says a lot about Freddie's writing ability, writing about someone else's hometown on their request and all.

Well...what else can be said about the man? He wrote Crazy Little Thing Called Love in a bath tub for crying out loud!

Actually, Barcelona was released about 3 years before Freddie shuffled off. I'm pretty sure that it was a Christmas number 1 in the UK.

Cheers Lejla,

Mark

Barselona is the only Olympic games opening song I remember. Doesn't that mean a great abyss between it and the rest songs?

And there is indeed video with Freddy and Montserrat singing Barselona, I've seen it several times. I think it shouldn't be a problem to find it in musical shop wiyh other Queen or Mercury videos

Right...Might be on the Queen+ Greatest Hits III video.

As far as Freddie in all his glory, I'd suggest Live Aid, or most definitely Live at Wembley '86

Yeah- sorry about that. Um, green chartreuse does many a funny thing to a man's mind.

And his ability to discern between 'wrong' or 'right'.

Cheers,
