Re: Post your favorite quote or maxim.

Far be it for me to get J. Kerry's foot out of his mouth for him, but the joke actually makes sense and people are making the proverbial mountains here. I may not agree with the joke necessarily (after all Kerry voted for the Iraq war, without Democrat support we would have never gone, thus the argument is moot) but it is in not an indictment on the ability of our service personnel.

I don't believe you changed your avatar, NNJ! And are you justifying Kerry's gaffe?

Re: Post your favorite quote or maxim.

I think Kerry's remark was a gaffe only in the sense that he stupidly admitted what he really thinks. He is an elitist pompous pinhead who has convinced himself that he is the smartest guy in the room. He loathes the military, and his "joke" exposed that bias.

I don't want to get to "Kerry-ed" away here about how much I hate this phoney traitorous bastard, because this thread is not "dark side".

I did indeed change my avatar, and not the first time.

I am not justifying anything other than the fact that Kerry was referring to Bush, I know it, you know it, and Bush and his supporters know it. It could have been stated differently, sure, but we all know what he meant.

I agree with stratters though, I won't say anymore on the subject, here.

I don't want to talk about politics here too, my question it was about what you said initially.

If I ever said that, I apologize, I must have been "taking the piss". I never knew either of my grandfathers and the previous avatar was simply a picture of the cooling towers from the nuclear power plant featured on the Simpsons.

Re: Post your favorite quote or maxim.

hallo kleine Matrose… du kleine Matrose, du kleine… Bootsjunge…

Weisst du was Einsamkeit ist?

Bube… Bootsjunge…

Kennst du das A-Team? Das A-Team? Vier Männer in ein’ schwarzen Van… ohne Rahmen… Ha! Was glaubst du dass da vorgeht na?

I have a good memory so, I did a search and I found this:

Sorry if I misunderstood you, NNJ.

Re: Post your favorite quote or maxim.

That's German for the most part actually. Here's one in Dutch from the same guy and with subtitles.

The term "grandfathered" means a clause in some legislation forbidding a certain activity which exempts those already engaged in it before the legislation was passed.

I see that NNJ has since gone the route of "Contributing member", which explains his new avatar.

Oh, I see now. Thanks! I knew that he had said something about his avatar and that world. My apologies to NNJ for my mistake.
