Sheesh...now I understand Gilmour when he said "I would never be a member of one of my own fan clubs".

Um...

"when only the best will do" (Benson and Hedges)
"Guinness gives you strength" very true,
"If you put yourself down people will start believing you" (some wise old chap when I was a little tacker),
"I was just a child then, now I'm only a man" (Roger),

That is all

Hmmm, depends on which decade you're referring to. I would venture that if you mean modern- day Floyd , then yes, most things are. However, if you're referring to 70's unified Floyd , then shee-it, you easily impressed, Sarah.

Cheers,

Mark

Stratters,

Thanks for the mention and BTW I am also rather fond of the quotes of W.C Fields. I just can't remember any of them.

I may be confusing his quotes, though, with those he made when portraying P.T. Barnum.

"Never give a sucker an even break."

The one I keep coming back to, over and over again:

"Was it you?
Was it me?
Did I watch too much TV?
Is that a hint of accusation in your eyes?"

(The Post-War Dream from TFC)

Roger can pack more meaning per line than anyone I know. Simply incredible.

"You can fool some of the people some of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all of the time." - Some guy.

And you can't fool sarah goode ANY of the time, it seems.

The maxim that I live by was related to me by my Grandfather when I was about 12 or 13.

"If you gotta be an ass, your far better off being a smartass than a dumbass."

I've just read this thread all the way through for the first time. I thought this was a Floyd forum not a party political broadcast.

Nice one Sarah on beating them down
Decent signature i thought stratman
So what became of Euphen and Tarkus?

This still IS a Floyd Forum. Read through other threads and you'll discover, if you have not already discovered, that at some stage all threads venture off-topic. Give them long enough and they'll usually eventually get back on-topic.

Having said that, where's YOUR favourite quote or maxim.

Never wish for the return of forum boneheads or they may return. Evoke the Devil (non-ecumenically speaking, of course) and he may yet appear. :o

"Be careful what you wish."

p.s. I was incorrect earlier and Cheriberi's attribution was too:

You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time. - Abraham Lincoln (1809 - 1865), (attributed)

I know that threads will stray of the point but I just found that this thread strayed a bit more than most.

Having said that My favourite quotes or maxims would be:
"You'd better hope there is intelligent life somewhere out in space, cause there is bugger all down here on earth" Eric Idle of Monty Python
"We are all individuals, you've got to work it out for yourselves" Graham Chapman of Monty Python

D'oh! I can't remember where I found my information, but you are absolutely correct. I must be more careful with my sources in the future!
