| Re: Deos anyone else get the werid feeling when the hear syd's songs? No. No weird feelings. But there's one song that sounds always a bit... disquieting and it's Jugband Blues, first and foremost for its lyrics and meaning. And Vegetable Man, for the same reason.

| Re: Deos anyone else get the werid feeling when the hear syd's songs? Man, i'm glad someone started this thread Yes, I do get a very, VERY weird feeling while listening to barret's music. The first song I remember hearing by him was "Bike". The song is so damn innocent that you can't help but to feel freaked out by it. Maybe it's the way in which he repeats the same thing after each stanza. "you're the kind of girl, that fits in with my world, i'll give you anything, everything if you want things". It all just sounds.... freaky

| Re: Deos anyone else get the werid feeling when the hear syd's songs? The beginning of Interstellar Overdrive has a disturbing kind of distortion to me, especially when listening it on headphones. I like the riff but the sound has to me an irksome effect as it could be scratching on glass. Nothing else

| Re: Deos anyone else get the werid feeling when the hear syd's songs? i don't get much of a weird feeling when listening to Syd's stuff, but I certainly can see the state in which he was while recording. |

| Re: Deos anyone else get the werid feeling when the hear syd's songs? "Bike" doesn't bother me, but "Jugband Blues" is nearly impossible for me to listen to. Most often, I just stop the album before it can even get to that song.

| Re: Deos anyone else get the werid feeling when the hear syd's songs? It unnerves me quite badly--I can think of nothing else but the things Mr. Barrett suffered and how awful it had to have been for him and everyone.

| Re: Deos anyone else get the werid feeling when the hear syd's songs? Um...what "things" did Syd suffer? That is, what things did he suffer that he didn't foolishly bring upon himself? So okay, his record company wanted short poppy tunes. Why would anyone be surprised by this, they're out to make money? When one signs a recording contract, it's for money, so why is it the company gets nothing but abuse for what IT did to poor, misunderstood Syd? So okay, he's in a band with three other guys and they have commitments to appear and perform. But selfish Syd gets himself so stoned he can only strum a few notes, if at all, and embarrasses his band mates enough they decide to dump his sorry arse. Musical genius or not, it's just not on. Lighten up and forget beating yourself up about Syd. He doesn't care if you care. Listen to the music and let everything else go. Sermon ends. ![]()

And even all Syd's solo works... (have you ever read what Jerry Shirley told about the sessions for 'Barrett'?) You better do what BoaB said, forget those old stories and enjoy the work of our beloved Syd
