Well, I'd have to correct myself a little and say some tracks are more "Roger-ish"...

If you listen to "I Spy" or "F.E.E.L.I.N.G.C.A.L.L.E.D.L.O.V.E." you might hear some similarities in the way the vocals are delivered. You know how Roger is really fond of whispering/speaking/singing, often with someone screaming lines in the background? Like that.

Or just the "strangled" type of vocal (especially in "I Spy") that seems to signify deep and utter anger and frustration for the singer.

A friend of mine had noticed these things first and pointed them out to me before lending me his copy of Different Class, but he didn't tell me what tracks to listen for. I knew them when I heard them, though. LOL

And that's what I was talking about, in a more specific way.

Cheers!

For my part, I would say the only group I listen to that seems very Floyd INFLUENCED (there are a few that SOUND like floyd, but I don't think they're influenced necessarily), is the British band Doves. Some of their tunes seem to have resonances in Piper at the Gates of Dawn, and they actually acknowledge the Velvet Underground. Lots of accoustic stuff...a few harmonica solos (I have a bit of a soft spot for a good harmonica solo ya know!!!) and generally a very nice, melodic style. Wish they'd hurry up and do another album ('cause Floyd aren't likely to any time soon...or ever).
The post that started a whole lot of stuff. A year ago :o Cheers dude.

Just to mention that Hendrix's "1983 (A Merman I Should Turn Ro Be)" sounds very much like Floyd, although I don't think it is Floyd-influenced, because in 1969, Hendrix was on the top while Pink Floyd were still nothing.

So.....When are you two getting married?

On topic, I just heard "Love Scene", a psychadelic instrumental by George Harrison that sounded more than a bit Floydish.

My friend has a band, and he wrote a song called Memory and the intro really reminded me of Careful With that Axe, Eugene. I offered to play keyboards but was flatly denied. How can you have such a creepy intro without keyboards? Oh well, I guess that's what Sam's Pants Department (my band) is for.

Re: Floyd influenced tracks?

...After a couple of years...

If you listen to the first minutes of the song "Octavarium" by Dream Theater you will find an atmospheric build-up on keyboards and steel guitar which is remarkably, remarkably similar to the intros to "Echoes" and "Shine On".

BTW, sorry I made a DDT.
