Let's see... we could buy a totally legitamite, artist-sanctioned, digitally-remastered-from-the-original-studio-tapes CD off Amazon.com with lots of great material you haven't heard before from a fantastic guitarist who toured with Pink Floyd and who will actually receive some of the ~20 dollars you pay for the CD, or we could buy an elaborate 4CD bootleg with all the same old songs "remastered" from 8-tracks (THE VERY SAME KIND TRUCKERS LISTEN TO!!) from a smelly man who lives in a van down by the river and who keeps all of the 80+ dollars for himself. Hmm.

Botley... Booh Hoo! Cry me a river. But seriously, tell me how you really feel about bootlegs. Are you sure you're not a closet RoIO's collector? With as much detail you give about this man by the river, sounds like you've visited him a few times. Or maybe... you ARE him!!! I don't mean to come off as being such a smart a55 but you didn't have to come off as such a drama queen. All you had to say was you'd rather give your money to "legit" record companies than to bootleg companies. That's just my opinion. And we all know what they say about opinions...

Songs called pigs on the wing don't go to #1. I mean. It doesn't even have a chorus! It's a great song but it would be the only #1 Snowy ever played on. That song, as great as it is, would not have been a big hit. That's why they didn't release the 8 track version. For perspective, Saturday Night Fever came out that year.

Good for you botley. If that makes you feel better about owning boots. Just for the record, I've only paid full price for about 10 of my boots. The 115 other complete shows I got from a guy who put them all in mp3 and offered them in a 14 volume cd set. I wouldn't pay that much for a boot anymore. But at the time I started collecting live shows there was no mp3 format or Napster to steal from. It's also that simple.

So did Never Mind the Bullocks. So did Mull of Kintyre. Some great choruses there, for sure.

My point is, lots of wildly varied stuff succeeded in 1977. Pigs on the Wing is a great little song and I would gladly welcome it into the "hit singles" catagory.

I would welcome it as a hit, too. It would be the first hit Roger Waters ever sang lead on. I know you don't NEED a chorus for a top 10 hit but the sex pistols considered themselves the opposite of floyd and McCartney was a singles machine at the time.

Er, I'm pretty sure Roger and Dave both sing lead on ABitW2.
