comedy movies

What comedy movies would you recommend?
Some of my favorites:

The Rutles-Eric Idle spoofs the Beatles. Hilarious!
Blues Brothers -John Belushi
Stripes-Bill Murray
Life of Brian- Monty Python
Spinal Tap-Christopher Guest is one of my all time favorites.
Blazing Saddles-Mel Brooks
Fear and loathing in las vegas-comedy?

Young Frankenstein (Mel Brooks) is Number 1.

In no particular order:
The Blues Brothers (John Landis)
Animal House (John Landis)
Almost everything by Woody Allen (Hannah is a masterpiece)
A Fish Called Wanda (is it the correct title? it's the film with John Cleese of Monthy Python and Jamie Lee Curtis)
The Pink Panther: the second film - I don't recall the English title - is my favourite. Peter Sellers!!!
And, talking about Peter Sellers, Hollywood Party.

Rushmore was quite good. Zelig and Annie Hall are both great Woody Allen films as well.

"Spaceballs" and "Robin Hood-Men in Tights" are two of my favorites. Mel Brooks directed them, of course...

going to have to go with "The Big Lebowski", um, "Wonder Boys" I'd count up there, if it could be considered a comedy, "Coming To America", just classic Eddie Murphy, "Blues Brothers", 'nuff said, "Clerks", it had to be said, "Evil Dead 2", I don't know, and let's say any film made by Jethro Tull, I've only seen one, so I don't know if there are any more than that, and I think one's certainly enough.

Yeah, almost anything by Mel Brooks or Monty Python.

An oft overlooked Brooks: "The Producers"

Other good Monty: " MP & the Holy Grail."
"The meaning of Life"

Spinal Tap, Rutles----- 2 of my alltime fav's, too!

Overlooked from Woodie: "Everything you wanted to know about Sex but were afraid to ask."

Absolutely the most hilarious movie I have ever seen is Bedazzled - the original British movie with Dudley Moore and Peter Cook - I can start laughing to myself even now, just thinking about it <grin>. I highly recommend it. Never saw the recent remake - heard it was crap.

I love Monty Python and Mel Brooks, but I would also say "Caddyshack" is up there with the best of them.

I think "Plan 9 from Outer Space" has been voted (repeatedly) the worst movie ever made. That's why it's fun to watch. I think that's the movie where Bela Lugosi died while making it, so they finished it off using cardboard cutouts of him, and some other actor standing there, cape covering his face, trying his damndest to look "Lugosi-ish."

Did I mention Maniac Cop 1, 2, and...oh, yeah, 3? Now that's comedic genius.
