Thumbs up Re: What's your favourite "favourite" thread?

I know you weren't, Sarah. Anyway if I remember correctly the poster actually read Oakland Coliseum. Is that right?

Re: What's your favourite "favourite" thread?

It must have! I saw a few shows there. It's not some big stadium like candle stick park in sf. Oakland coliseum has an indoor and outdoor venue side by side. Bill Graham probably put the show on.

EDIT: Bill Graham the rock promoter.

Was there not a similarly monikered evangelist at some time or another also?

Cheers,

Mark

That would be the evangelist Fixxlevy spoke of.

Re: What's your favourite "favourite" thread?

Yup. Didn't he get caught with his pants down or something? I'm sure that there was distinctly 'unholy' (yet conversely did actually involve 'holes' somewhere along the way) behaviour on his part that left him, er, 'fallen' from favour.

Anyway,

Mark

Re: What's your favourite "favourite" thread?

Good lord no! That was the Reverend Jimmy Swaggart (cousin to Jerry Lee Lewis) who got caught in a rather compromising situation, for an upholder of morality and decency.

BTW, his congregation, after being suitably appalled by the revelation, did the only Christian thing they could: they forgave him. :o

"Christians aren't perfect, they're forgiven."

Re: What's your favourite "favourite" thread?

I breathe a sigh of relief, every time I hear a Christian's cheek turning.

Colloquialism,

Mark

Re: What's your favourite "favourite" thread?

Or, you may be thinking of the Reverend Jim Bakker of the PTL (Praise The Lord) Network who's peccadilloes extended further than hotel rooms shared with other than his WIFE but all the way to fundraising mail and wire fraud.

Oh dear, triple whammy.

Or Reverend Henry Lyons, whose wife burned down the house he shared with his... erm... 'girlfriend'. And also was using church collection funds in not-so-good ways.

All here in good ol' Tampa, Florida.
