Talking Mason appears at Waters gig

Just got back from Wembley.
Nick Mason came out and played drums on 'Set the Controls for the heart of the Sun'.
He and Waters gave each other a big hug at the end.
Who'd have thought?

Re: Mason appears at Waters gig

Dead serious!
I read a magazine article recently where Waters said he bumped into Mason on holiday somewhere and they got talking. Mason met him for dinner, and there he was tonight. Roger just said 'I'm gonna bring out an old friend who's back stage'.
Can Nick now do the previously unthinkable, and get them all on the same stage at the same time? It's a long shot but you never know.
The show was fantastic by the way.

Didn't our own Bride of a Bull go to this show?

Maybe he can back it up.

I'll second that emotion -

So, BoaB and James1after909, were you two freaking out? You saw the first time a Floyd has been on stage with Waters since The Wall shows! I would have been freaking out.

Uh... [POF] :o
Oh, I just fell down from the chair, can't believe it!
I had read about Waters and Mason's encounter at the beach, but I never thought they'd ever play together again!
And if Nick played with Roger, why can't Gilmour and Wright play too?
My hopes of a new reunion are getting bigger...

Yeah!

Re: Mason appears at Waters gig

Shane G,

Freaking out? Oh yes! :o

I had that feeling about the night. You may remember I speculated that since we'd heard the Nick-meets-Roger rumour, it may be just the sort of surprise Roger would spring on an unsuspecting audience.

As I said, I had that funny feeling, and I wasn't in the slightest disappointed.

A fine quasi-Floyd evening.

It's good that you freaked out. If you hadn't freaked out, then I would consider you a zombie!

What is your opinion on the effect that this special duo might have on Nick's relationship with Dave and Rick?

Re: Mason appears at Waters gig

Hmmm...well, If I am perfectly honest I'd say it shouldn't have much effect on the way Dave and Rick view Nick. Why should it, is my question?

If Pink Floyd is never going to produce anything more, nor ever tour again, then it should make no difference to the present situation.

If anything, I can see things going along much as the past six months, that is "solo" shows with now no longer all that surprising "surprise" guest appearances.

Jay said he never thought he'd see all the members in the same year - didn't stop the cheeky fecker saying "But where's Syd?," "Which one's Pink?" all night - but now he has .

So have I, and if that's the only way this Floydian can see them, then so be it.

Re: Mason appears at Waters gig

I must admit the news has my heart going a little faster than normal. My imagination is also going a little wild with assumptions about the future...but as Byron said, it will probably mean nothing as far as the Floyd goes.
